Tahan VS Mikkayla

No, they don't. Sometimes I want to scream and say, that's not all I am. I am grateful though to be in Australia, my family moved back to France but I staid :)
Glad you stayed. There are others like me that are interested in learning about cultures and the difference between countries. My parents were not born here and were the first of the family to move to Australia. I was born here so I feel very fortunate to have learnt about my parents background and be Australian. Some find the other side of me interesting, whilst some see something ugly. I ignore these people. As a child it didn't matter what I was, no one seemed to notice, but it was as I got older I noticed a difference and felt the difference. It's funny how things change the older you get.

I totally understand Miks 'hate' for being Asian and not fitting in. I was talking to my boyfriend last night that I am Mik's polar opposite.

I'm caucasian, blue eyes, blonde hair (before) and grew up in the Philippines. I HATED being the minority, the looks.. the stares, people touching my skin.. People thinking I couldn't speak Tagalog and talking about me. I dyed my hair brown and tried to speak minimal English and just wanted to fit in. Inside I felt like a filipina. (My stepfamily is and they raised me, my father works away)

Fastforward to 2004 when I moved back to Australia, I felt Asian inside. Still kinda do but I like fitting in externally. It's really odd. I often think I'm fat because I compare myself to all the Asians, then have to snap myself out of it and remember that externally I'm not Asian. Got my Aussie accent back too, although there is still some words that people wonder wtf I'm from..

I don't think it's racist at all, she's brought up by a caucasian family and has no ties really to being Asian, she just wants to fit in.

youre gonna have to pm me some pics so I can confirm this

I have to say I was genuinely impressed with Tahan talk about racism and giving Mikkayla some good advice! We need more of that Tahan!!!! And it was good to see Mikkayla explaining her attitude to being Asian! All in all it was very good step for both of them!

I agree with you. It would be AWESOME if they rekindle their friendship... I like Mikkayla and Tahan as a duo than Mikkayla and the sisters..

Me too. When they were screaming at each other, they were also laughing a little. They were both letting out some frustration. The rest of the time I bet they were ok with each other. It is like with my sisters, we fight and we make up, and fight some more, lol

When they were in the pool, I heard Mikkayla say" unless I've followed Tahan's urine, I've hit a warm spot" Correct me if I'm wrong. Was that to be taken as a joke or being mean and nasty, which?

I like them both for different reasons. I would hate to see either of them leave before Tully or the Sugar Sisters.

Can't deny Tahan is mean sometimes, but the other girls don't miss a chance of saying a nasty comment about her! It goes both ways!

The thing is though, people were complaining and giving her shit for this just days ago. It's just further development of the story. Yet the Tahan haters don't give a shit. She was wrong to dare criticize the perfect Mik. The context of what she said then was perfectly clear. Yet the venom against her ignored it and it still will. Even though now the context they were so desperately ignoring is as plainly obvious as as the nose on someones face.

And cue someone coming here to bitch about my bias against people with out noses and how horrible I am.

It was gross, that's what it was!

She's a bit of a sociopath that Tahan..and does anyone else hate how she's always saying she's 'actually really intelligent'. Seriously?-_-

the main trouble I see is Tahan thinks she is so beautiful, and Mikki thinks she is not thin and not beautiful. to me Mikki is much nicer than Tahan.

Tahan needs to be less of a bitch. Sure have a go at someone if they're annoying you, but Tahan personally attacks ppl and it's a very ugly trait which diminishes her looks.
Mikkayla can bitch as much as the rest of them but she's not as nasty. But the pair if them need to grow the fark up

Spanish man speaking english is the best.

just my opinion :)

My fiancé is Spanish, but wrecked his accent by living in the USA. So so gutted I don't have my Spanish prince but got someone who sounds like ray Romano

Until recently I liked both Tahan and Mikkayla equally despite their differences. Though now Mikkayla is gradually losing me. Tim tells her that Tahan is a mean person and out of convenience or sheer naïveté she uses it as a mantra from now on. She is convinced that only Tim can be her salvation, figures she could really endear herself to Tim by suggesting to exchange Tim's photos with Ben's, laughs hysterically and seems generally poisoned by Tim's 'magic'.
Then the 'I hate being Asian' thing. If that's true Mikk, you need serious help. You know nothing about Asians, you know nothing about Caucasians, you know NOTHING about anybody or anything if you can utter such nonsense.

Tahan is, according to Mike G. abrasive and in our eyes a real bitch because... well, how dare she not behave when she's so good looking. How dare she flaunt her looks. How dare she be cheeky. How dare she breathe at all? The bitch. Yet, she's good to watch... and entertaining.

A bet: If Tahan were given as much airtime as Tim and if the 'Ugg Boots Brigade' weren't allowed to voice an opinion, Tahan would crush Tim like the bug he is during noms, in the popularity stakes and would even take out the crown at the end. :p

Honestly, Tahan's piousness over the issue is a little annoying. I get that it's personal for her, but it's personal for Mikkayla too and it's so obnoxiously narrow of her to impose her collection of life experiences on Mikkayla and essentially say, "Why can't you be more like me?" I have no doubt Tahan has had to deal with racism, but she does not get to hijack Mikkayla's experience, firstly as an adopted child and secondly as an Asian-Australian, and reject completely her struggle with it.

Mikkayla obviously has deeply rooted issues with her body - no doubt these are irrevocably tied to her race. Tahan is a model - people literally pay her for being beautiful. Tahan has been validated by her looks, by her body, by her race, in a way that Mikkayla has not. No surprise then that she's reached a level of acceptance with herself and accrued a confidence that Mikkayla has not. I think she could be more understanding and recognize that Mikkayla's self-loathing should say more about the society that made her feel this way than Mikkayla herself, but this is Tahan we're talking about so...

I agree the sisters are not that entertaining but I really hope that Tahan or Tully is booted out. I find it interesting that Tahan keeps calling herself to be a straight forward, honest person and everyone has fallen into the band wagon. Tahan is not as honest and straight forward as what she is making herself out to be. An honest person wouldn't do the following:
(a). When Ed and Tim were talking about the relationship between Drew and Tully, Tahan immediately reported that back to Drully and saying I am not judging you.
(b). When Matt had a discussion with Tahan about Drully, that he didn't feel what they were doing was right, Tahan was in agreement with Matt.
(c). After apologising to Mikkayla about mimicking her eating habits, Tahan put on a repeat performance in the kitchen.

She is not as honest and straight forward as she makes herself out to be. When she had a go at Mikkayla about her doing the Asian accents, that is how Mikkayla deals with discrimination. Mikkayla wasn't putting any other nationality down, so how does Tahan figure that Mikkayla was discriminatory when Mikkayla was mimicking her own Asian background?

Mikkayla lives in Newcastle, which is very Caucasian, whilst Tahan lives in Darwin which isn't. No one should discriminate but everyone who has an ethnic background, finds their own to deal with it. Tahan should respect that, instead of judging Mikkayla and assuming that her way is the only way.

Having looked at the whole scenario, I think both Tahan and Mikkayla should continue to stay in the house. I realise that Big Bro thrives on drama and nastiness and both girls have the fighting spirit and excel in physical activities to boot. My view is either The sisters, Ben or Ed need to go to change the dynamics. Big bro wants Tully to stay.
