She was the legendary rat in Susan Hawke's Snake vs Rat speech.
 
Kelley failed to make much of an impact on the show, but the s extremely savvy with social media, and using that tomtalk about the game and become a personality that way.
 
Shirin is just not very good at this game is she?
Spencer can go, he isn't really winning me over this time, too arrogant.
Not sure about Jeff Varner, he seems to flip between sides a bit too much.
Undecided on Abi-Maria too. Half the episode had me hating her, then the sympathy kicks in and I'm ready to give her the benefit of the doubt. Damn emotional manipulation!
I'd like Joe to win, but they've already expressed their plan of taking him to the merge then slitting his throat.
 
My favourite monkey was on again!

Best part of that episode? "Drop your buffs." Hooray, or Spencer would've been toast.
 
Cagayan is like the one season I haven't watched yet and what do you know, so many of the contestants in Second Chance are from that series.

I like Jeff's craftiness, and I like Joe just because he's like a ray of sunshine. Joe is so likable and athletic though that if he makes it to the merge he's going to have to win every immunity to get to the end.

Cagayan is fantastic. Best season since Heroes Vs Villains, IMO.
 
I don't think Survivor like the Know It Alll gameboy new school beach people so much. The show seemed to delight in blaming Max for his own demise last season. And here, it is the blend of old and new school that seems to being praised by the edit. I don't think Survivor wants to become like BBUS, where it is so much about 'strategy'. I think they want a bit more of the early seasons relationship building to return. Maybe as a cleanser after the nastiness they focused on last season.

The contrast can be seen between the way Joe, Stephen and Savage are being presented. Survivor McGyver Joe is shown to be a delight, like the old dude who won Gabon in Ozzy's body. Nothing new school has been shown about him. Stephen is being given the doofus soundtrack, he's shown being awkward, physically and socially, and making himself into a target. Savage, who is the type of alpha male Probst always falls for, even said he has no honour, loyalty etc. Savage tried to pass himself, in contrast, off as genuine. Mynstory was emotional, so strong, so well told that OF COURSE Jeremy needed to go have a little cry. Who wouldn't? Gamebot know it all's like Fishbach, who seem impervious to his lawyer trained emotional bonding tactics.

Sharin was shown to fail because she had no personal relationships with anyone. Every word from her mouth was about strategy. 'I voted with you. What more could I possibly do to prove my loyalty?' Perhaps not lugh at her, or talk to her when she felt rejected. Abi is a sack of broken eggs, clearly, but if you are going to align yourself with an insecure emotional wreck, you have to maintain the relationship.

Abi should have been voted out first. She is a Shame. Looks like a perfect Philip Shepherd style goat, but is toxic and will drag any tribe down with her. There was a snakelike glee in her eyes as she told Sharin that it is her that will have her dreams taken away and will be thrown away tonight. She enjoyed telling Sharin, and she enjoyed the pain and confusion she was causing.

I wonder if Deitz and Varner are Dad and cool uncle enough to keep her in line. I doubt it, but Terry was shown positively for adding emotions to his game, reinforcing what I said about Survivor wanting to add old style to the new 'we've got the number'. Game.

Looking forward to the swap. It would be great to see Stephen, Spencer, Ciera and Kelley together, all throwing a challenge to vote out Savage.
 
Totally nailed it, Winterbourne. As for the BBUS strategy thing, yes, the old school touched on that immediately. When I first watched BBUS in 2006, it immediately struck me that they were forming alliances from the very moment they entered the house in the launch show. But think as much as you or Probst or anyone else would rather it not, that has been happening and ever evolving since season 2. Like most reality shows, you just can't put the genie back in the bottle.
 
I'm glad they're forming three tribes this week - thus tearing to shreds, one hopes, any currently formed alliances. It shat me to tears watching that tribe of chestbeating males stomp all over the game to the end c/- their boring alliance in Joe's seaon. Regroup, people!

Well, that was interesting... I am struggling to understand why Angkor got the dud no shelter situation, etc, when everyone else got a reshuffle and a different beach with prepaid advantages/hammocks/existing food.

The wildlife photography this season is marvellous! My fave monkey, a leopardy cat, that gorgeous colourful bird... I just want raw footage of my monkey filling more of the edit, and less of Abi, every week.
 
Abi is a liability. It's madness to think you can drag her to the end, and somehow avoid the negative consequences. Tasha must have seen that when she kept the abysmal J'Tia and proceeded to have her dump out her food and lose then challenge after challenge.

But for Tasha, I suppose, getting out any of the old TKO tribe is a coup. And because Abi is still there, they even have a shot when they lose the challenge next week, because there is less chance of the old TKO working together to oust Savage or Tash whilever Abi is there. Is 'whilever' a word?

Spencer approaches human interaction like Data or Dexter or Abed. 'I must FORM RELATIONSHIPS now. Commence relationshipal intimacy conversation. 'So, Jeremy, you miss your wife? My girlfriend told me she loved me and I let it hang. Fist bumb?' I wonder if Spencer and Stephen aren't talking, or if they are downplaying it, or what. Presumably they are friendly, through the rhap connection and dispositionally. They seem like the perfect pair - Stephen needs another man crush, but why not with Spencer, who is a younger version of himself? Stephen seems to be getting the growth story edit, and Spencer's tale is all about learning to make connections. I wonder if these two can work together, or if they pointlessly pick each other off, letting someone else get through.

Random thoughts:

Monica is clearly a non entity this season, and cannot win. Abi has stolen Amanda's bum. Wigs annoys me. Savage too. Varner is getting a Hatch edit, like the super active lovable villain edit. I wonder why he wanted Wigs to work with Monica. To get rid of Spencer, I guess. For the new tribe, throwing the challenges and voting off Savage and Tash is so the right thing to do. PG knew it in China, and she was right then.

I'm not sure if this season is interesting, as such. Abi is like a Spencer Pratt, bbuk Farrah chaos causing reality starlet. Is that why she is getting the airtime? But is it good Survivor? It like Brendan Hantz/Phillip premerge Survivor. We've got a deep batting lineup though, of players who can play to win. Varner can win. Ciera. The delightful Kelley Wentworth. Spencer maybe. Kass is playing well. Joey Amazing could win, if anyone was Woo enough to let him near final tribal. I guess he could Mike his way there. Terry could win. Wigs and Kimmi, I don't think so. Not much from them so far. Tasha's there to play. Savage too. Jeremy looks like he is going to wife himself out of it. If the merge was close and Pink lost, Spence and Big Steve ought to oust Jeremy, to dint the Macho alliance. Abi goat-ential can't possibly take her much further, surely? Is Woo out next on Ankor? Woah, bogus.

Hmm. Twenty to 5 in the morning. Maybe time to stop typing.

Edit: there is probably a decent post in here, if I organised it better. No sleep.
