I think this guy is heavy with Antisocial Personality Traits. I don't think that he's much on empathy, as in feeling it, but intelligent enough to 'know to show it' as it's a quality valued in society.
Time and time again, I see his mind working to always have in mind when addressing something or someone, that he's also talking to and trying to influence other HM's and the public as well.
He is a very cold individual, calculating and unmoved. It's like he thinks emotions, buts doesn't feel them. Even in the letter home to a loved one it read as distant and with an agenda, even though emotive words were used. He pitched it as much to the public as to his parents, even mentioning he hoped he was coming across well.
He seems to enjoy conflict. Seems to enjoy belittling, bullying and baffling others and bemusing himself. He admits to an explosive rage like anger and I sense at critical mass he could be dangerous.
There is a meanness to him, in his face, in his actions and when dealing with those he feels superior to. I see him as remorseless, deceptive and unable to feel guilt or take responsibility.
He has been through the Mental Health system when he dealt with depression as an adolescent. I think he picked up more than a few tips here on how to manipulate others further and how the system and society works. What is expected in society and how to pass, albeit some traits can't be suppressed and are readily seen as several of us have noted. Though, I'm sure he'd have answers to cover these if challenged.
Last night we saw him going for the sympathy vote when mentioning his fathers situation on becoming a full-time carer for his mother. Those with DSM-V - Axis II personality disorders traits, Cluster B (Narcissistic, Histrionic, Borderline, Antisocial) will use anything and anyone to advance their position.
Jason and Lawson have also done this as Tully did lastyear.
That said, we all have traits of different personality disorders, falling somewhere on a continuum from adaptive to pathological. For example, narcissism assists those whom succeed in business and at individual pursuits of excellence. I'm not diagnosing the guy or boxing him in, but for the use of context and discussion it can help understand him.
