Dancing with the stars is so overrated. Who actually watches it.
Maybe that's why Evictions are on Wednesday now cause of the show S.H.I.E.L.D.
1.33million viewers (prelim figures, likely to be more) watched DWTS lol!
You know I just had a bit of a connection revelation. Reading an article on TV Tonight, David Knox states:
Dancing with the Stars stepped back onto television screens last night and proved once again why Live television is still broadly appealing. It topped the night with 1.33m viewers (Preliminary) which is a very good average for a show that run shy of 3 hours by just 10 minutes.
Big Brother honestly has lost the 'event tv' feeling with Channel Nine. I don't think they really understand what the show was. I'm still an optimist. I think it will be back in 2014 and I will still watch every episode. However it doesn't 'feel' like a live spectacle. We are almost never shown actual live footage from the house, Sonia's live interviews with evictees are a poor man's cousin of Gretel's interviews, nominations aren't shown live, neither is showdown games. We have no actual live feed and no up late. As stated above live TV is still broadly appealing. If even a lame concept like DWTS can pull 1.3million, what is BB doing wrong?
I am a super-massive BB fan since the very first episode and haven't missed a single episode since, whether watched live or caught up online or PVR'd. Tonight I will be watching S.H.I.E.L.D. And catching up with BB online tomorrow....
Why? I don't actually feel the urgent need to see Live Eviction, live. It's not really event TV and I don't feel like I miss anything by watching it online later, and I am a super massive fan of the concept. I can only imagine how casual viewers feel.
So in answer to your question, Goon, Who actually watched DWTS?
Answer: people who are drawn to LIVE event television. The crowd who have unfortunately NOT been captured by the producers and network behind BB
