Now go back and read the sentence one more time - read it ONLY ONCE, and count the number of times the letter "F" appears before reading on...
If you've never seen this before you probably counted three Fs. Actually, there are seven. If you don't believe it, go back to the sentence and find them.
It’s amazing what our mind is capable of blocking out.
If you think this is some kind of trick, it's not. Go back and be sure to count the Fs in the words "OF".
There you go!
Since most of us were raised to read phonetically, our minds will only allow us to *see* the Fs that sound like Fs, not those that sound like Vs.

The Slender Man was created on a thread in the Something AwfulInternet forum begun on June 8, 2009, with the goal of editing photographs to contain supernatural entities. On June 10, a forum poster with the user name "Victor Surge" contributed two black and white images of groups of children, to which he added a tall, thin spectral figure wearing a black suit.[3][4] Although previous entries had consisted solely of photographs, Surge supplemented his submission with snatches of text, supposedly from witnesses, describing the abductions of the groups of children, and giving the character the name "The Slender Man":
The stupid idea went viral, and kids all over the world are getting sucked into this boogie man tale - believing it is all REAL.
3 awful crimes have resulted
On May 31, 2014, two 12-year-old girls in Waukesha, Wisconsin, allegedly held down and stabbed a 12-year-old classmate 19 times; when questioned later by authorities, they reportedly claimed that they wished to commit a murder as a first step to becoming "proxies" (acolytes) of the Slender Man
Woman from Hamilton, Ohio told a WLWT TV reporter her 13-year-old daughter had attacked her with a knife, and had written macabre fiction, some involving the Slender Man, who the mother said motivated the attack
On September 4, 2014, a 14-year-old girl in Port Richey, Florida allegedly set her family's house on fire while her mother and nine-year-old brother were inside; police reported that the teenager had been reading online stories about Slender Man, as well as an e-book called "Soul Eater"
Keep an eye on your kids, apparently most primary school kids know about this SM myth. It's big in USA, hope it isn't so prevalent here.

Actually most people I've used this with (in face-to-face sessions) only get two or three on the first go. So yes - you're special
(or maybe it just doesn't translate that well online lol).It's actually used in some areas as an example of 'scotomas' - or blind spots that we all have in some form. Another example is not noticing a type/model of car...until you buy that car and then see it everywhere. Or a new parent not noticing traffic or loud noises, but immediately hearing their baby's whimper.
(sorry - off topic now. Back to the actual interesting stuff!)

Allergists say most foods contain natural contaminants. Aside from chocolate, cockroach parts also make their way into peanut butter, macaroni, fruit, cheese, popcorn and wheat. The roach bits can affect people with asthma, as well causing migraines, cramps, itching or hives in people who are allergic to them.
The first cockroach allergy was reported in 1943, and skin testing for cockroaches began in 1959. Cockroach allergies can be treated with allergy shots that contain trace amounts of the insect. [Could Edible Bugs Solve World Hunger?]
According to Morton Teich, an allergist at Mount Sinai School of Medicine, contamination by cockroaches and their droppings is unavoidable, because it happens at cocoa beans' source — the farms where they are produced. Preventing them from infiltrating the harvest would require the use of more pesticides, which Teich says are much worse for you than consuming a few extra bug parts.
Avoiding insects in your food is "almost impossible," Teich told ABC. "You probably would have to stop eating completely."
