Status of Abiola's Go Fund Me. There was one big donation of $500 near the beginning.
I disagree with the concept of Go Fund Me's for living expenses for a bunch of complex reasons. Mainly that they are a symptom of a fucked capitalist society that too often lets people slip through the cracks. But also a lot of Go Fund Me's are just people being fucking idiots or trying to get out of responsibility.
There's no doubt Abiola has had a tough time and there are intersectional issues at play. The problem is the fundraising goal is vague... medical needs are mentioned but there's no confirmation this is where the money will go. Rent increases and her car breaking down (again) are also mentioned. There's heavy focus on her mum passing away, but that happened 12 years ago. All of this makes it feel a little inauthentic to me.
Also the description is obviously AI generated. Everything written in. groups. of. three.
