In April she and her partner Steve walked away from The Block with $736,000.

And Chantelle Ford has wasted no time pursuing her dreams, running a flourishing millinery business in Melbourne.

The blonde designer, who comes from a long line of milliners, has released a new range of hats fit for the races just ahead of the Melbourne Cup carnival kicking off in November.

Mad hatter! Chantelle comes from a long line of female milliners, with her aunts both working as milliners

Ford Millinery’s 2014 Spring Racing collection is made up of bold, unusual looks for fashionistas keen to wear something out of the ordinary trackside.

Modeled by former Big Brother contestant Tully Smyth, House Husbands actress Leah De Neise, Channel Nine newsreader Jo Hall and Chantelle herself, the pieces are certainly outside the bounds of traditional race day headwear.

Tully dons pieces including the heart-shaped ‘Loveheart Candy’ style, and a feathered piece called ‘Silent Goddess’.

The designs range from $140 to $490.

[DOUBLEPOST=1413301638][/DOUBLEPOST]Chantelle herself wasn’t afraid to model some of the designs, such as a tangerine and raspberry triangle shaped hat in a geometric pattern, and a large yellow layered number.

There’s no chance of being a wallflower in any of the designs, but Chantelle says the striking designs fit right in on the field.

‘What looks big and over the top at home, will blend in perfectly once you step on the racetrack,’ the designer said.

Now, I know how hat hatin' is a delicate subject around these parts so I'll tread lightly...

Those are some...erm...interesting designs...

On another note: this thread is still more dramatic than the current series of BB. Maybe Alex should send us all in as intruders :hilarious:

Come on now... let's be frank (and please don't change that after we've been the same blunt selves for a year in here)

These hats are horseshit.

Until this year I spent every weekend in Australia at a Melbourne track and both of these statements "‘Once you're at the races and see what others are wearing, you'll wish you went more out there’" and "‘What looks big and over the top at home, will blend in perfectly once you step on the racetrack,’ the designer said" are just blatantly wrong.

Jenny in Altona (shout out to Travis) would look like a massive dick rocking up in most of this stuff during Spring Carnival. Look at what the supposed milliner is wearing on her own head while playing pool lol!

I'm not catering to anyone's suddenly delicate sensibilities in here... these hats are rubbish and from the pic of Tully with the heart shoved on her head, I can now understand why she rarely smiles in her pics. Never could figure it out before or her yapping incessantly about her dentist but I get it now.

The one that she's wearing with the heart makes her look bald...bald.

One of the other girls looks like she's wearing a piece of fucking pizza on her head. Now I love pizza but it has no place on a hat.

To be honest I'm kinda shocked Chantel designed them. She seemed so level headed on the Bachelor, but those are just weird.

I don't understand the "the weirder the better" view when it comes to headwear at the races. I usually just go for a flower in my hair and I never feel underdressed or out of place there.

They're really not nice. The ones that aren't designed to poke eyes out still look like fails. And I'm all for a creative hat. To be honest my husband would be hoping I'd poked his eyes out before putting one of these on my head and he's halfway metrosexual lately.

There are many unique hats without the typical top and brim... but these all look almost like a joke tbh. Jo Hall's got a flippin Grammy on her head ffs
