People come into the hospital on a daily basis after attempted suicide (eg. overdosing on drugs) - 99% of the time, the Psych Team see them once, the person says they are not planning to kill themselves at that present time and they get discharged. No referrals for follow up to prevent it happening again. Just "tell your GP" if you feel like doing it again. The system is abysmal
 
I havent read anything about Charlotte yet I just got online and came here.
I think Charlotte was nominated for a silver logie this year for best presenter? Her Ex husband Scott Miller Olympic silver medallist, has been in the headlines, and was on 60 minutes recently . I wonder if there may have been any added stress/embarrassment/harrassment for charlotte because of this?

It sickens me to think of the keyboard psychopaths who brought this woman so much pain. Just walking around amongst us, tapping away and torturing people whose fragility they either don't fathom or lack the humanity to care about. What a fucking world.

Already some disgusting troll responses on FB about her (my feed has reports from all sorts of media)
Just want to slap their ignorant faces.

I followed her quite closely, she has battled depression and trolls got to her a couple of years ago, then she attempted suicide after terrible trolling.
Can this be a call out-don't call HMs names any more (yes I am guilty too) like douche bag, wimp, laughing at them for ridiculous reasons that say more about you than them and speculating what dreadful people they are.
You don't know if they are reading here..stop bullying them.

Amen to that. Mental heath stiff always seems to be the lowest priority.

Let's hope so [MENTION=35590]Pookie[/MENTION]. But we could start by cleaning up our own backyard first. Have a look at some of the hashtags here at the bottom of the page. Having an argument/discussion 'face to face' here is one thing. Spiteful hashtags are simply gutless.I know of at least one person who has stopped posting here because of them. I hadn't actually realised they existed...shows how closely I don't read.
 
I'm sorry to hear about the death of Charlotte Dawson. Such a young and beautiful lady whom you would think had a wonderful life ahead of her. Depression is a very serious issue and one that doesn't get enough attention from the medical field. I'm sure her friends and family were doing what they could to try to help her but if someone is determined to do this, they will.

As for the Twitter side of it, I do wonder if that is all that caused this or was she already having issues with depression and the social media haters made it worse.

I'm still angry that it was seen as humane to close down public psychiatric hospitals, rather than bringing them up to UN heath standards where there could be humane care for patients. Instead look at homeless populations...it's appalling. I know this isn't strictly related to Charlotte Dawson, but private clinics are so oversubscribed there are waiting lists. Dreadful.

also 2 days ago asked for people to vote for her being nominated for a silver logie award for most popular tv presenter.
I think they will have a special mention in honour for Charlotte at the Logies this year.

It appeared to the public that Charlotte was happy with her busy social life etc but obviously she was still feeling much sorrow and depression underneath it all.
Did anyone watch Charlotte on the @mornings9 show yesterday?
 
Am I the only one wondering if I should rethink some of the things I say in this forum and on social media? A lot of what is said in here is critical of someone. Are we haters/trolls? Not trying to criticize any of you, just really reeling over whats happened with this young woman and wondering if I need to make any changes.

We are more vicious to one another sometimes than to the housemates. As I said, just look at some of the hashtags below.

A million times yes. It's one of my pet furies, and a massive human rights failure as far as I'm concerned. And looking at some of the widespread consequences--homelessness, crime rates, prison overcrowding (in the U.S.), etc. etc.-- I can't believe closures over reform even made fiscal sense in the long run, if we were to be hard and cold about it and leave out, you know, the whole human suffering aspect. Anyway, not to go CRAZY on the subject, but yes.
 
Yes I have been upset by nasty comments about Ed but I am a pretty resilient person so have come back. Pretty sure he wouldn't care, but some other HMs might and need to get off SM?

We need to remember we saw a highly edited one or two hour version of a each 24 hours. We based our likes and dislikes on that.
All the reality shows nowadays are built around goodies and baddies -ie the MKR Perth girls had death threats! It only takes one crazy...
Let's also remember the BBAU 2013 HMs were 20 lucky people out of 50,000 who auditioned! They are all winners really.
