Coming from someone who found Jade completely annoying and cringeworthy in the house, I honestly don't see the big deal about this article and Jades replies. She was asked questions about Ed in his hometown and answered them.

Agree with not seeing the big deal here.

Hardly likely as Ed knew Nathan was there - he had asked Nathan to say Hi to Adelaide for him - and it is on Jade's social media that was going to be with Nathan and Ross.

Polite or dumb? Who knows - maybe they really are friends?

Isn't it just staggering? It's the first time (outside books) I've had a good sense of Louisiana. Staggering.

It's the best new thing I've seen in ages. I'm absolutely enraptured by the dialogue, the acting is obviously amazing, and yes, the sense of place is astonishing. As an American in Australia, it struck me during the first episode that there's almost an "American outback" quality about that part of the country, which had never occurred to me in that way before.

Possibly, but again, the questions she faced are unknown. For example, it is widely known that Ed and Jade stayed with Ed's mother in Noosa and that she has met all his family (except his father and Nick said in a published interview that their father wanted to meet Jade - which is probably crap, but is out there in the public domain).

As Ed had said he would be showing Jade around, and she knew most of the family, it is quite possible she was asked if she would be catching up with his family while in Adelaide - which could prompt the answer regarding Ed's father and not be out of line.

Fair enough. Unfortunately, we have no idea what questions were asked. We can only make our own assumptions of what they may have been.

I agree totally. I was pondering writing a journal article based around Broadchurch (where the sense of place is also wonderful), but although I adore David Tennant, I've ditched it in favour of True Detective. I can't help but gush...I also appreciate crime fiction that is suspenseful without being gory.
The dialogue...so lyrical and intelligent.

Speaking of geographic locations being a character in a storyline, have you seen Treme? (New Orleans, post Hurricane Katrina).



Regards the article about Jade, I don't see a problem with it. Not a fan of her actions in the house (what I saw of them), but I think she truly cares about her friends and inspires a similar response in those who consider her a friend. In terms of Ed giving her his Dad's phone number, it's just good hospitality really.

I'll check out Treme. I also highly recommend Rectify...Southern Gothic in all its glory.

I'd recommend Banshee FWIW. It's a cross between True Blood and Dexter, the first few seasons anyway as both shows declined badly in the tail end of their respective series. Don't be dissuaded by the first 2 episodes of Season 1 which are silly trashy D pulp nonsense. I almost gave up on Banshee because of it but luckily I persisted 'till Ep 3 . It improves exponentially from that point onwards. Not for the faint hearted and easily offended though (ie. Jade fans ), there's a lot of gratuitous nudity, sex scenes and explicit graphic violence that some people may not be able to stomach.

I need about 7 hours a night to remain a happy person. I can cope on 5-6 hours but after a few days I get a bit grumpy. Ok then, a lot grumpy.

I'm not a Jade fan, but I'm hopeless with graphic violence...gratuitous sex and nudity aren't an issue That said, I'll give it a try. Normally I prefer English crime stuff because it's more bloodless. I used to love Buffy and Angel because all the baddies were dusted rather than left to bleed. Hopeless I know. Even films like Good Fellas I've watched from between my fingers.

From the teething, non sleeping phase, new baby in the family so doing it all again while still coping with the first one and now night potty training... You get the idea. I live for Saturdays. I don't envy you there. It is a long time since my children were little, so I've forgotten a little what that was like. I am back working full time now, so I also look forward to the weekends for my sleep in. At least I know that when I go to sleep I will be in control of what time I will wake up. Children are worth the sleepiness nights though - they make life worth living.
