I'd bet my last dollar that Tim would prefer to go to South America with just Drew, but he thinks there is value in Ben going because 'We're the odd couple'. He thinks it will make good TV and that as a result one or both of them might score a gig.

Difference being that Tim (have never ever thought of him as a Saint!) has been upfront about his narcissistic tendencies and never pretended to be anything other than who he is - oh - except when it was his fake birthday ;)

I disagree in regards to this trip. It's being presented as a kindness, which had there been no cameras would have been utterly believable. I have no issue with it, but it's myopic not to acknowledge the fact that they are using one another.

AND all of the things she didn't do herself in the house

She's the worst sort of hypocrite trying now to preach to people about self-esteem after her carry on in the house. She is no role model to idolise - it is only because she aligned herself with Jade that people think of her now as little miss sunshine when in truth she was behind a lot of backstabbing and bitchiness in the house and of all the housemates had the lowest self-esteem and the most issues with her own identity (be it through her weight, her race or her beauty)

the main factor would be whether or not he's going to go back to uni to finish his degree ... only other one would be if he had offers of work that might clash with timing of Tim's plans

I don't see Tully as being a factor as she knows he wants to make this trip and whilst she might get a little emo on us whilst they are away I don't believe she would hold him back from doing what he wants to do ... and when it came down to it I don't think he would allow himself to be manipulated like that - not even by Tully

Absolutely. Tim knows that without Ben, this trip would carry very little entertainment appeal for the broader audience. I think I've said this before, regarding Drew going (or not)... He might have other opportunities on the horizon for which, depending on when they are planning to go, he needs to be available. He probably can't afford to go anyway!
 
[MENTION=34950]crimmy[/MENTION] All good points. i certainly don't think Tully will be a factor. I must admit though, Tim and Ben aren't mentioning him, so I do actually doubt whether he's going.

Okay, it must be just me who thinks it might be production-related? If it's gonna be shown in tv or wherever for sure the production behind it has a say who would and wouldn't go?? I think Tully isn't a factor when Drew is so keen to go.

I think another difference is that Tim and Drew's friendship has always seemed very natural, genuine, and most importantly, two-sided. I've never gotten that vibe with Tim and Ben. It was always Tim comforting Ben, or Tim making an effort with Ben, or now Tim visiting Ben. I think some people think Ben's being a mooch because he never seemed to care much about making an effort with Tim but now he's happy to let Tim buy him a trip. I don't think anyone would be labelling Drew as a mooch given he and Tim were/are genuine mates.

its more the way Ben handles it ... seems to constantly be bringing up more places HE wants to see ... whereas Drew is more laid back and almost has the attitude "I'll believe it when I see it mate" ... he's happy to go along with whatever is offered but isn't making any demands on where they should go - almost like its Tim's show and he's along for the ride.

you know me - I'm not going to see good in the way Ben handles this ... watching the show when it ever airs will probably have me rolling my eyes and angry rather than laughing along with him ... i KNOW I should get over it .... but he just raises the hair on the back of my neck somehow ...

oh I'll happily admit its to Tim's advantage to have Ben along - he will draw a wider audience than the combination of Tim & Drew ever would ... however Drew & Tim can be entertaining together also.

I don't think Tim could do it without the cameras rolling ... he's after a job in tv - he's getting himself in there with the Getaway segment, the Weekend Morning Show segments, the Hug thing ... people are recognising him and I think he's very clever in the way he's keeping himself in the public view.

I do however think the initial offer of the trip to Ben was not with the idea of using Ben to his advantage ... but the idea has grown and he's been encouraged in it by the public's response to Ben and to the trip.

Come on...we've been over this before! Tim ARKSED Ben quite a few times in the video, where else HE wanted to go. It's all part of the 'see how incompatible we are' spin that the whole trip is based on.

LOL. I'll be rolling my eyes watching Tim exploit Ben's weaknesses. I don't much like either of them TBH. That said, I think Ben has been mentioning other places to visit as part of a dialogue with fans rather than because he has the expectation of it happening. Any thoughts on what might happen if Drew stole Tim's limelight?
