BERNARD Tomic has quit the Australian Open after losing the first set against Rafael Nadal.

Tomic appeared to be struggling throughout the set in the hot Rod Laver Arena conditions and withdrew when Nadal served out the set 6-4.

The withdrawal was greeted with boos from sections of the crowd who had hoped to see the Aussie push the world No.1.

The Tomic-Nadal match was delayed by more than an hour after Lleyton Hewitt rallied from two sets down but came up short against Andreas Seppi.

That's about right been directed at Ben since people rightly suspect he's using Tim as a ticket to travel around the world at no expense of his own. Personally I don't care that he might be 'using' Tim given the pittance Ch 9 paid most of the 'stars' of a show that rated reasonably well for 4 months of their prime time schedule.

I didn't say that was my take on it but the interpretation of many people who perceive what Ben is doing as freeloading. It's not uncommon to find people that are more than willing to give up their own time and money to help others. Unfortunately some see that as an opportunity and invitation to get out of it as much as they can from that generous individual. That's what many fear Ben is doing to Tim.

To be honest, I don't think a man with anxiety issues and OCD should visit the Amazon...EVER!!! I think Tim might have a bit of a child-like idea of running around in the jungle collecting bugs and climbing trees or something?!! Imagine Ben...haha.

I love watching nature doco's on places like that but it wouldn't be my idea of a holiday.

I guess we'll see how much of a moocher he is IF he allows Tim to pay for everything ... I would have thought the offer was more in the line of Tim would pay airfare & accommodation and there'd be the normal expectation that he'd pay for his own meals and expenses along the way. If the offer had been made to me I would be making sure I paid for my expenses and shouted Tim a few meals & drinks etc as a way of thanking him for his generosity. To expect Tim to foot the entire bill is I think taking it a bit too far - however that is between Tim & Ben - if Ben truly can't afford these things Tim will be more than aware of it and would not put him in a bad position about it.

I'd like to see Ben making some effort at finding a job - and not as a pajama model in his own home, sitting back and waiting for the world to come to him (with gifts if possible)! He's only going to set himself up for a fall when the interest dies down and noone comes knocking. And I would think that would be very detrimental to his self esteem and, ultimately, his mental health.

and please don't anyone start telling me that BB owes him a duty of care etc etc ... HE signed up for BB - I don't want to hear any violins if he doesn't come out of the experience positively.

and I'll admit I DID get a few laughs from Bens antics ... the "I'm in the pool", the "Oh Sorry! Sorry! Ooops! Sorry!" Irish dancing with the boys on stage ... the talk with Drew "I'm not even gay" etc ... and I doubt my opinions on him when I see people like Tim still believing in him ...
