Firstly he hasn't publicly named the ones who kept the money (yet) and not that it matters anyway. He's giving away $10,000! It's not like he'll get any benefit from that. The donations are in the HM's names so they'll be able to claim it as a deduction and get some actual money back from the ATO. So it's a win win situation for those that donate.

As for the HMs who keep the cash, well they'll end up with more money so good luck to them. It's not like Tim owed them anything anyway, if they want the cash and people find out about it then so be it. And yes if they don't want to play Timmy's little reindeer games they can just ignore the whole thing altogether with no harm done.

This goes to show why Tim deserved to win more than any other. He's just better at playing games and being entertaining. Keep up the good work, legend.
Everything you said.

If I were them I would choose to donate simply because I wouldn't trust Tim not to broadcast my bank account number lol

lt's a lot to donate though, so aside from the game-playing it's still a generous thing to do so good on him - it's good to see quite a few of them actually using their public profile to support causes.

Hahahahaha

but if it's just for charity he should have just said I am giving $500 in each of your names to the charity of your choice, let me know where to send it

Simple as that. But instead he said, I want to GIVE each of you $500 BUT, there's a twist. The entire message was cringeworthy and simply came across as another attention seeking ploy.

I'm glad Tim did it like this. Some of the HMs tried to declare "war" on him bahahahaha, said horrific things and wouldn't piss on Tim if he were on fire. And yet now they're being given the opportunity to give $500 to charity on their behalf or keep money for themselves. If any of the HMs need that cash desperately, well I'm sorry but I don't feel one ounce of pity for them. Some of them were only in the house for a short period of time and they still got paid $500 a week until their BB commitments stopped... if they haven't managed to sort their finances out by now then I suspect they weren't sorted before BB and they never will be. Luckily for them though, they live in a generous country that will give them welfare payments until they get back on their feet - and won't stop those payments even if they spend some of that money on dinners out and boozing and then posting pics of that decadence on social media.

No one's forcing them to get involved with Tim's offer. It'll be interesting to see which of the HMs will be spending a part of their Xmas Day doing something for charity as Tim is and which ones don't. That is much more important to me than whether or not someone takes $500 for themselves when let's face it: Not a single one of them should need that money.

if that's how you want to do it then go ahead, i would be happy for you to donate in my name.....but it's his money and he can do with it what he wants....i'm sure if he read the crap here, next time he wouldn't bother.

No he is giving away $10K with strings attached to it.

Why even post the stupid Youtube video, contact the housemates maybe send them a card "hey here is $500 but in the spirit of Christmas I would be happy to send it to the charity of your choice"

Easy but he wants the attention, plus he wants something to hold over those housemates who don't follow his wishes, just like in the house. Attention whore.

i'm sure when you give away $10k you will do it discreetly and not want any advertising for your chosen charity....and i'm sure you wont mind a bunch of idiots with no money telling you what to do with yours.

i think its pretty obvious that he offered them this money in the hope they would give to charity. That's clearly what he was hoping for. Of course they don't have to, but do you really think he would give $500 to a bunch of pricks that constantly tried to call him out, corner him, make him explain and criticize him for everything he said or did. Fuck that. Most of them were out to get him. The ones that he felt close to he has lavished with generosity (drew, ben, holidays etc). SomeName is correct, he owes nothing to any of them. He wanted to give them a chance to give back in their name and some of them get it while some of them obviously think they deserve $500 present from the guy. I would never tell anyone if i won the lottery because then everyone you know becomes an entitled jerk thinking you should hand it all over. Fuck that, i'd give it to those that loved me when i had nothing, everyone else could bite my arse.

None of them are so hard up that they can't see what the gift was really for and couldn't bare to part with the cash. It's $500 for nothing. Don't give up your job and go on big brother if you are that hard up, or go out drinking etc. I'm sure tim would help anyone of his mates who genuinely was having trouble paying the bills....that is not what this is about, this was about giving at christmas, advertisement for your chosen charity, he gave everyone a chance to give using his money that he didn't have to give them and probably wouldn't have except in the hope it would go to charity.

edit: to not give it to a charity at all in an effort to stick it to tim only makes the people who actually need the money, the charities that this generous offer was meant to help, lose, not tim.

I'm just nodding and silently cheering this on as I read it. I have a mortgage, I have bills, I waste a lot of money around Christmas, and with all that, I still have the opportunity to spend if I want and waste on what I like. I still have plenty compared to others out there, so these hm's don't really need the money. If they choose to take it, that's fine. Because I know myself I would also have to think about it. But Tim did this for the very reason for the hm's to donate, don't like the game don't play.

Yes I have done and did it without any fanfare. I was lucky enough to win over $250k myself.

Most people that give to charity do it quietly. Tim is an attention seeker.

tim is also in the public eye....while you are not. And if people tried to tell you what to do with your winnings i'm sure you would just bend over and take it like you think tim should. When someone is willing to give...say thank you. It's not hard.

Point proven... someone on the dole until his business is up and running and who couldn't stand Tim has now given $500 to charity because of him. Win.

@ timdormer your a legend mate good on ya! I would like to donate $500 to @ AlzheimersAus In support of @ tee_smyth and her family. Thanks mate

Tim never does anything without it all being planned out.

Absolute publicity stunt for Tim, and of course he does not care who he embarrasses on the way through. As long as Tim is on show. He is a grub.

Out of all the hm's, Tim was heavily nvolved with charity work before big brother, he volunteers, contributes and makes aware of situations. He doesn't pretend to be a perfect person, but he does do good in the world. He can plan as much as he wants, it's his money and his way of getting money to charities. Yes, he could do it himself, but ultimately he is letting the hm choose one that means a lot to them. If that means he has in mind to expose them for not donating, well they choose to play it back with Tim. That doesn't make him a grub

I've always liked Matt. I know he was a muscle head and therefore not as favoured by people, but he has qualities that make me think he is a decent caring and honourable man. This is one of many examples

Very nice gesture by Matt. Tully's response:
Tully Smyth @tee_smyth
@MattBigBrother @timdormer @AlzheimersAus Oh my god Matt you're going to make me cry! Thank you so much, I'm speechless.
I wonder if Drew saw this and thought "I should have done that!" haha, jk. I'm sure the charity he's chosen to give the money to is a disease that has affected his family in some way.

haha, the uglier the better. That's what ugly christmas sweater parties are all about :D

Lol... Okay maybe I overreacted, but I'm sweating my butt of in this weather and knowing they celebrate Christmas in summer and they are wearing those things drives me up the wall haha

I think Tim is a charitable person, I would guess he probably has volunteered as more or more than any of the HM's, to that point good on him.
However, the way he did this seems like a publicity stunt, and also a mind fuck on all of the other HM's, he already won and deservedly so, but the way he has done this just doesn't sit well with me.

I've heard about the $500 a week but don't know how long they get it/got it for. I'm sure many of them had car payments, rental lease obligations, and other expenses that continued even while they were in the house, so there are likely some that at least somewhat need the $500 but can't/won't take it because of the way he did things (they don't want to be on blast for being a Grinch).

i completely agree here. He is a good guy with good morals. He has so much respect for his gf and seems like a lovely guy. He has vocalised his dislike at some behaviour without disliking the person/people and kept his integrity. Really wish i appreciated him more when he was in the house.

To me, the only people it could possibly be a mind fuck for are the ones who publicly plotted to take him down and couldn't stand him and yet they still have the opportunity to not get involved at all. Although they're also being given the opportunity on Tim's dime to get praise from the public for their choice to donate a la Matt. From everything we've seen on social media from the HMs themselves, not one of them should dare to cry poor especially not at Xmas time when there are so many people on the street, trying to give their kids a decent Xmas on the single parent pension, etc. The hardest part about this whole thing should be which charity to choose if they don't already have one close to their heart.
