I think it's pretty obvious he's trying to shame the ones that kept it.

And your point is certainly getting through. I just don't agree with it. I'm just saying that there's some of them that might not be in a position to be able to turn down $500 if it's offered to them by a friend. That doesn't mean they're bad people.

I think I'm leaning more towards this opinion, mainly because giving to charity should be a selfless act with humility and compassion at the root of the intention. This is just turning an act of kindness into some kind of judgment day scenario/ circus. As for it being some sort of game that he likens to BB... Bloody hell, the show is over and the controlling games continue?

If it was me, I would publicly say 'no thank you, I have already donated to the charity of my choice and I myself am not a charity case'. It's kind of humiliating, the whole way he's gone about it. Seems that, depending on the choice the HM's make, it's REALLY all about either making Tim look good or the HM's who keep the $$$ look bad. I'd decline to participate on principle.

i think its pretty obvious that he offered them this money in the hope they would give to charity. That's clearly what he was hoping for. Of course they don't have to, but do you really think he would give $500 to a bunch of pricks that constantly tried to call him out, corner him, make him explain and criticize him for everything he said or did. Fuck that. Most of them were out to get him. The ones that he felt close to he has lavished with generosity (drew, ben, holidays etc). SomeName is correct, he owes nothing to any of them. He wanted to give them a chance to give back in their name and some of them get it while some of them obviously think they deserve $500 present from the guy. I would never tell anyone if i won the lottery because then everyone you know becomes an entitled jerk thinking you should hand it all over. Fuck that, i'd give it to those that loved me when i had nothing, everyone else could bite my arse.

None of them are so hard up that they can't see what the gift was really for and couldn't bare to part with the cash. It's $500 for nothing. Don't give up your job and go on big brother if you are that hard up, or go out drinking etc. I'm sure tim would help anyone of his mates who genuinely was having trouble paying the bills....that is not what this is about, this was about giving at christmas, advertisement for your chosen charity, he gave everyone a chance to give using his money that he didn't have to give them and probably wouldn't have except in the hope it would go to charity.

edit: to not give it to a charity at all in an effort to stick it to tim only makes the people who actually need the money, the charities that this generous offer was meant to help, lose, not tim.

It's their decision to get involved or not (If a HG is worried about being embarrassed by Tim..then DONT PARTICIPATE)...I don't see what he is doing wrong here...

On a side note: I'm sure Tim would be loving it that he got so many people stirred up about his little game...

None of the housemates have really played his game back on him though. I would be trying to find a charity which he wouldn't be comfortable with (hard to think of one with Tim though that I wouldn't also be uncomfortable with). Jasmin gave a "not playing" message with her tweet about rent money, but that's it.

i don't even claim donations, even that feels selfish

but why? what could you possibly lose by giving money to a worthy charity, in the spirit of the offer that was intended. He doesn't want you to keep his money, he wants you to give it to some worthy cause close to your heart. Why enter games based on that, why not say "thank you", and let your chosen charity be the winner?

he should of said he IS donating $500 to each HMs charity and for them to tell him which one they have chosen. simple. no games, everybody is a winner

I have to agree...that would be the humble thing to do but as I said before, it's more like a publicity stunt. Don't get me wrong, I think it's wonderful that he is parting with some of his winnings but I do also hope he is getting sound advice re investing most of it. 250k is really not a lot of money in today's terms...it wouldn't even buy you a crappy studio apartment.

Tim never does anything without it all being planned out.

Absolute publicity stunt for Tim, and of course he does not care who he embarrasses on the way through. As long as Tim is on show. He is a grub.

GIVING TO A CHARITY SHOULD NEVER BE A GAME, IT'S AN ACT OF GENEROSITY FROM THE HEART!

sorry, there is no f_cking around with this topic for me

the guy is giving money to you to help your chosen charity and people can only complain on how he should have done it. Really. What ever happened to thank you.

If someone i didn't like, someone i was out to get and bitched about gave me money to give to charity....or keep if i wanted to....there is no way on Gods earth i would keep it. Why do i deserve it? we don't even like each other. I would say cheers mate and use it to benefit those in need......don't bite the hand that feeds the needy.....especially if i don't have the cash to do it myself.

I have to much pride to accept money for me, when the intent was obviously to help others. He couldn't really make the offer to only the few who he liked, he would be nailed to the cross, so he made it an open offer to ALL, including those that he certainly wouldn't want to give a cent to, to help the needy. It's not rocket science. And those that don't like tim and accept his generous offer without giving to charity should be embarrassed. "i hate you but gimme gimme".

But he isn't EMBARRASSING ANYONE!!!...

It's up to them whether or not they participate....If they participate and keep the money for themselves then they know full well what they are getting into.

I can't believe so many people are getting butt-hurt over this donation...He's potentially giving away $10K of his OWN MONEY to good causes...who cares how he does it

if donating to charity is not a game, then you accept the money and give it in the spirit it is intended...otherwise you ARE playing the game and the only ones losing are the ones who need the cash.

people who he is playing a game with, when they didn't ask to play this game
I would tell name a charity but it sucks for the ones that could really use a little help in their lives.

its not a game.....here is $500 for your charity.....it's simple.... i want you to give to charity, that is why i am giving it to you, of course i can't force you and if you chose so you can keep it.....why would anyone keep it? It's for charity.

This ^^

If some HMs look bad because they would rather have the money than a charity, oh well, tough shit.

but if it's just for charity he should have just said I am giving $500 in each of your names to the charity of your choice, let me know where to send it

No he is giving away $10K with strings attached to it.

Why even post the stupid Youtube video, contact the housemates maybe send them a card "hey here is $500 but in the spirit of Christmas I would be happy to send it to the charity of your choice"

Easy but he wants the attention, plus he wants something to hold over those housemates who don't follow his wishes, just like in the house. Attention whore.
