They all had snap-on metal lids, so they could be used as glasses. Waste not, want not back then (back when things were repaired instead of replaced, and we walked 20 miles bare-foot to school while carrying the family horse on our back etc)

You had a horse? We were lucky if the goat could carry us all.

I'm leaving for the States day after tomorrow and bringing a huge, mostly empty suitcase, but it would be a long, really uncomfortable journey.
