Absolutely. You're in for a very lonely life if you hold people to ridiculous standards where you kick them out of your life the moment they fuck up and can't forgive.

That's obviously discounting serious issues like cheating and assault in relationships mind you.

I was not talking about little things (or HM's anymore) I was talking about trust. A real friend breaks your trust and they are done. I don't think trust is a "ridiculous standard". I think that's one of the basic foundations of real friendship and if that's broken its done. That does not mean a lonely life because if they are genuine friends they won't break it.

Trust in friendships can be broken over little things though. Like carelessly spilling a secret you shouldn't (in Tim's case) or lying to a friend and saying you can't go to their function because you're sick or working when in reality you have something else on or just don't want to go but don't want to hurt their feelings.

I'm sure we've all blabbed something we shouldn't before and I'm sure we've all lied to blow a friend off before. Doesn't mean the friendship as a whole isn't genuine or it should end right then and there.

That's my view and how I treat my friendships anyway. You obviously do it differently.

Seems that way. I have never spilled a secret about genuine friends and if I don't want to go to something I either tell them or go anyway (if its important to them). I don't see why anyone needs to lie to a close friend about something like that? Even a peripheral friend, you could just tell them the truth. If my friends does not want to go to the gym or to a party they would just say so, no reason to lie. But even if they did that probably would not completely end the friendship. But that would definitely raise some questions. "Why not just tell me? Why would they lie?"

Friendship, I am talking genuine friendship, is very important to me. I just place great value on my close friends, the ones I can count on. I don't believe in ending friendships over little things like blowing a friend off. But if one of my friends talked to someone else about an issue I told them in confidence, why would I ever tell them anything in confidence again? They might still be a friend I can hang out with but not a genuine friend.

And yet the quote I used from you suggests that he would reply in the way Tully wanted him to. Going with the flow suggest agency only if you don't believe he's too wimpy to make his own choices. The whole 'under Tully's thumb' meme is tiresome.

Seriously I'm not going to fight with you about a status. You got your opinion I got mine.

I'm so impatient I'm in desperate need to know if Drew is back and to have some sort of tweet from Tully.
