I would argue this would lead to really interesting moments in the series, it wouldn’t be Big Brother without something going wrong, its what sets it apart from other reality shows

In a way something being shouted over in an area where there is more background noise might be less likely to be heard than any wall shouter at a more remote location.

Speaking of yelling over the wall here’s an interesting look at the extensive history BBUS has had with both banner planes and people yelling over the wall. Also don’t discount the show as being just Survivor in a house as this phenomenon was also present in the original format.

Having "public viewings" of the house is an interesting concept. For two way mirrors to work it has to be pitch black on one side. Unless the control room is going to be on display to some degree.

I vaguely remember the auditorium was open to the public when you did a house tour, I don't think the control room was though. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Love the idea of part of the house being a huge two way mirror people can look in through. I think one of the Scandinavian versions which was based in a shopping centre planned something similar but not sure they followed through on it.

The Finnish reboot filmed at a shopping center, yeah. The house was on the upper floor with the garden and task area being on the roof of the building. So it was elevated from the main entrance of the shopping center, which probably helped with preventing shouting from the ground, but it was still not protected from the public.. If I remember correctly, there were some car parks next to the outside area or whatever, so you could get pretty close to the housemates.

They haven't had any way for viewers to tour the camera runs though.. but production (at least initially) utilised the location decently with the main draw being that housemates were actually able to go inside the shopping center (after hours of course) to do their weekly shopping there.

I too agree that I love the idea of using the house as an attraction. Letting people go into a specially set up area that allows you to see them inside, that is a pretty cool drawcard.

I've once done a studio tour and some shopping channel has featured something like this as well: You were able to go through a camera run and watch them filming their sales pitches. You didn't hear anything though. They very extremely worried that people would knock the window or make any noises though.. so before you entered the building, the tour guide reminded you to stay quiet, don't knock on anything and to stay behind a line. They also made sure that you stay behind the line.

That would probably be the main issue for Big Brother as well.. people making noises to draw attention from housemates. But I like the concept as well.. first you watch the tigers from behind a glass wall, then the housemates. It's the human zoo the media (at least in Europe) has always talked about in the early days of the show.

Yeah, wall shouting happened pretty much everywhere in Europe as well.. with the wildest act probably happening during the very first season in the Netherlands. A TV host from a revival channel was parachuting into the Big Brother house. He himself missed, but his colleague landed inside the house.

I think that's still a a bit of a security issue for the show today: People trying to get into the house for clout. Not so much from rival channels anymore, but social media. I think it happened during the later run of BBUK on Channel 5, when some influencers broke into the house.

You might want to check out "I Survived a Zombie Apocalypse".. it's not really Big Brother nor Survivor but it was filmed in an actual abandoned shopping center in the UK.

It's more current than ever these days, too, since iirc it was 5G that caused the zombie outbreak on that show...

Public tours through the camera runs during production would be a bit of a nightmare I'd imagine. The runs aren't huge, they're dark, and the crew are going to be working.

Either way, I'm sure any "attraction" feature with the house will boost interest. I would imagine Dreamworld would open the house to tours again when shooting isn't happening.

Yeah, that's never gonna happen. If they'll even do something like this it will be (like in the studio tour I mentioned) a separate camera run where you can peak inside the house and have a bit of a distance to the final barrier.
