Oh Boy, What a week.

Sunny Coast to Syd is just over an hour - bearable, what I wouldn't do it again :) on Deathstar

Well, he needed a place to stay and (see Jordan below)

He was a he with a lovely face, luv his dialect & he was doing Tradie work in Oz as a brickie & I'm renovating my house, soooo yes, big arms, nice bod :p we were of mutual benefit to each other for a month lolz...

Did you sample his bratwurst?

You do look kinda young yourself, I'd surprised if you said you didn't get that from people quite often. ;)

I still get asked for ID all the time haha.. people always asking me how I got in the position I am so young.. I always still mention what I'm turning like I'm 10.. when people say 10 and a half.. Im like hey I'm 22 but turning 23 in a few months haha

Wow, all the more respect for your hardwork then. It will pay off though by providing a good launching pad for your career.

Definitely, which will hopefully happen soon :) The positives are getting invited to do the red carpet for Arias, I have been invited (its in march next year so a while a way) but to do the logies, so just taking every day as it comes..will start approaching people once i have done skies interview some time next week.. and go from there...

Awesome! That's good to hear because you do have a natural talent that is really enjoyable to watch - I'm glad it is being noticed.

Wow so sorry about the rough week.
:O I just watched one of your videos for the first time man..
You really do have a voice made for either media in either radio or TV land.
Watching your interviews and your styles.. I would be safe to compare you to the like of Nova's Smallzy etc.

That is true, but Hamish and Andy are more than just radio stars and they were the most popular duo on at a certain time for years... looks to me that the powers that be are trying to throw money at them, hoping that they will deliver when it comes to the ratings.

And the rest of the radio community? They only got that ridiculous amount because 2DayFM lost listeners this year with Kyle & Jackie O moving to another station and Jules Lund, Sophie Monk and Merrick Watts failed to relate to their target audiences.

For anyone who works in the media or is a journalist will know it's a tough industry. A lot of radio hosts are on year contracts only and it's very hard to secure full-time positions. They have to go where the work takes them.

Now the ABC is making major cut backs too and closing a few of their rural stations down too.

So please don't think that because Hamish & Andy are bringing in the big bucks that it's a growing industry - it's not.

Advertising dollars still growing.

PricewaterhouseCoopers on Monday tipped the Australian radio advertising market would grow by a compound annual rate of 3.4 per cent to 2018, to $1.3 billion from $1.13 billion. This would give it 9 per cent of Australia's $14.4 billion advertising market in 2018, it said.

Not dying nearly as fast as print media. People still like to put the radio on in the car.

More:

The commercial radio industry has recorded growth in metropolitan advertising revenue of 1.99% for the financial year ended June 2014, to a total of $697.127 million, according to figures sourced by Deloitte and released today by industry body, Commercial Radio Australia.

A strong June with growth for the month in all markets resulted in metropolitan radio ad revenue up 7.32% to a YOY total of $66.479 million. Brisbane rose 11.72% compared to the previous June to $10.481 million. Perth was also well up by 11.40% to $8.861 million. Sydney grew 8.15% to $21.081. Adelaide rose 5.87% to $6.149 million and Melbourne increased by 3.09% to $19.906 million.

The 2013/14 financial year total of $697.127 million for the five markets showed Perth once again the strongest metropolitan market with a 4.39% rise to $98,858 million. Sydney was up 2.29% to $214.774 million, Melbourne grew by 1.73% to $211.089 million and Brisbane was up 1.33% to $108.614 million. Adelaide was slightly down by 0.56% for the financial year to $63.792 million.

Chief executive officer of Commercial Radio Australia, Joan Warner said: “An outstanding June result showed radio is a cost effective and quick to market option for advertisers looking to capitalise on the last of their financial year budgets.”

The Deloitte figures report actual revenue received by metropolitan commercial radio stations for the calendar month and include all metropolitan agency and direct revenue.

Regional radio financial year revenue figures compiled and released by Commercial Economic Advisory Service of Australia (CEASA) will be released in August.

Not dying nearly as fast as print media. People still like to put the radio on in the car.

I'm a delivery driver by trade and spend 5 day's of my week in the work vehicle..
I've been doing this job for 2 year's.. and in that 2 years, I have only listened to the radio for a span of 1 entire month in 2 full years.
I can't stand ad's as much as the next guy.. and daytime commercial radio are one of the worst offenders.
Nova is my goto station for the odd occasion that I do listen to the radio.. They used to have a tagline "Never more than 2 ad's in a row"
I don't know what happened to that concept.. you get 2 of the top 40 hits that get's played at least once an hour.. and then a block of 5 - 10 ad's.. another 3 songs and then 6 more ads.

So for the most part during my day.. I have my iphone plugged into the radio and either switch between my own library of music or I will use spotify.. Music all day long and not an advert in ear shot. :)

Yeah I like spotify myself and use it often. But you don't get the chat and humour. So I also like the radio.

I'm not saying it's not going to slowly become less and less relevant. My point is that currently it is not on the same trajectory as print media.

All what you have shown and proved is that advertisers are still paying big bucks to be featured on radio shows. I get what you're saying but what I am saying is that REAL journalism for radio is dying. Radio isn't dying but people going to uni, learning how to be a broadcaster and fine tuning their skills is dying. The only reason Hamish & Andy are getting that money is because companies will be throwing $$$ to have their product etc featured on their show. Ever heard radio hosts all of a sudden start talking about a product?

And it shits me that people go to uni or work hard like @Luke Blundell to try and break into the media scene and people off Big Brother will no experience get these radio gigs.

I'm assuming you haven't worked in media? They can bring out whatever stats and figures they want but it's now becoming a money grab not real journalism.

Yes. It's a tough industry.
I didn't say it wasn't. I was more addressing your comment that it wasnt a growing industry. Apparently over 3million are now listening to DAB radio.

But yeah you're right. Never worked in the industry so I'm probably just talking outta my backside. Lol!

@glamourama and @bleachy_dude I appreciate both of your comments :) Really appreciate it! I was talking to a few radio gurus and it is still growing, but it is true that people who work hard sometimes don't get what they want, and people who don't and go on tv get it all. but look sometimes its just luck :) just gotta stay positive
