Network 10 ‘Panicking’ As Big Brother Stars Make Racist Remarks On Livestream​


"According to industry sources, several conversations on the livestream this week have included racial stereotypes, comments about ethnicity, and remarks referencing Jewish, Asian and Middle Eastern communities"

Pretty sure their "industry sources" are actually just us posting in the fan diary...

9:16pm - Michael and Jane are saying some seriously racist things while talking about cars.

Michael: "I cant have a black matte car, that isnt me, im not.. Ethnic.."

Jane: "Jewish people touch cars you know..."

Michael: "Oh the Asians... there's so much Asian money in Sydney"

Each time the feed tries to cut the audio. Eventually they give up and switch the camera to the living room.

Why are they panicking? Did they not invite these 'anti woke' Trump lovers on the show for content such as this?

If they literally are panicking how about not inviting such types on your show for controversy and stick to the casting you did for every 9 and 10 series prior.

I honestly think that part of the story is completely fabricated - see post above about Channel 9.

But it's also a good point - they bring these cookers on the show should follow through with dealing with the consequences.
 
What a load of crock that article is. I personally don't buy it. How many times have the producers said they want to lean into the "real people, real stories" and the controversial topics? The very things Nine were too afraid to even touch. If there's any truth behind it, and Ten truly are "panicking", then they need to eat their words.

Agree, think P.TV are scraping here. They’ve been doing a lot of BB stories, which is great - free press for 10. But I don’t buy that anyone is surprised by this after recruiting these types of alt-right housemates on a show with a 24hr livestream.

Also the opinions aren’t being broadcast on TV, I feel like the only damage being done is to their own character.

I hope Michael has people that don’t want to work with him after this.
 
It's garbage journalism like that which puts off the networks going the live stream. At least on the live feed you can see the full context and make your own judgement - and yes this conversation lies solely with casting. They're delivering what they were cast for.

I suspect that they only purposely chose two housemates (Michael and Bruce) but didn't expect so many others to actually also accept and agree with some of the things they are saying.

Any publicity is good publicity. Merlin's protest and Turkey Slap delivered the highest ratings of their respective seasons.
