She's probably the most hated housemate in the top 8 right now, next to Ed.

Sucks that Tahan fans are cheating though, please vote for Mik!

Yes, the QUEEN Tahan KNOWS. It's nice to see Tahan support on the Mikkayla thread.

She probably was observant of people looking at her and her parents and feeling like they knew she isn't one of them. It's a self loathe for what she looks like not because she is Asian. Well said [MENTION=35834]Sweet_Geek[/MENTION]. I know you are not a Mikkayla fan, but I am so impressed that you articulated this so well. I have tried not to get emotional about BB as it is a reality show, and once it finishes, it will be history. This issue has been bothering me and I have decided today to say something about it.

There are times I cringe when I see Mikkayla on screen, but I have come to the conclusion that I do have a soft spot for her.

I myself am a dark skinned female who came to Australia as a child. There have been times, I wished that my skin was white, so I could simply fit in. I love my cultural background, and I am bilingual, and I would never trade my looks or culture. But when you get discriminated against at work and socially, you do wish that life wouldnt be so hard.

Like Mikkayla, I also put on my cultural accent and take the mickey out of it. I dont do it because I am trying to put my culture down, but because it breaks the ice when I meet people, and they think "hey she's okay, she's one of us", that allows us to get to know each other without barriers.

There has been so many nasty comments made about Mikkayla, which I dont think is always justified.

At the end of the day, we are different, and we all will gravitate towards different people. Just like we do to the HM's in the BB house.
If we like someone, we will find a reason to excuse their behaviour, rather than be objective. If we dont like someone, well all hell can break loose and even if they say something that is right, we find a way to turn it around.

I hope that Tahan and Ed doesnt win on principal.

For Ed because his family set up a "win a date with Ed" if you vote for him, which I dont think is fair. Although it has now stopped.

Tahan has her boyfriend David, who has over 9000 twitter following and he has asked everyone to support Tahan. On his twitter, you can see people saying that for every lap he does, a vote will go to Tahan. He has also called Mikkayla a "canetoad" (which is uncalled for, sorry not everyone is as hot as his girlfriend).

This is a reality show, and I would expect a HM to win based on how the public viewed them, which is a fair way of winning. I'm sorry but I cant compete with someone who has over 9000 twitter following, makes over $200K per year and is openly asking for votes from his followers for his girlfriend.

I am hoping that Katie/Lucy and Ben fans jump in to help Mikkayla out, even if it is to get her into the top 4.

Totally unfair, esp in Tahan's case. (Must say that Tahan' boyfriend comes across as a bit of a sexist wanker, judging by what I've seen and read of him.)

Shouldn't be allowed but impossible to monitor such things....

Mikka looks so pretty in this photo. Seems to be enjoying the radio spot, that would be a perfect next stop for her after Big Brother.
Im still voting my few votes spread over the days. Heres hoping she can have another life despite the odds. She did it last time so you never know.

Wow, thankyou! I wasn't expecting that at all, such a nice response and I like that you used our own experiences to help others understand that this issue is not as black and white.

The part where you mentioned that you wished your life wasn't as hard? This stood out for me, because not everyone can understand when you are different in colour and culture that you don't naturally always just fit in and it makes life harder in many ways. Which brings me to the next part that stood out to me in your post. When people feel like they don't fit in they will find ways to make themselves look like they can fit in and in your case you brought up the fact you take the mickeys out of your accent. You mention being one of them as reason as to show there are no walls that block you from their world. That was the most straight forward response I've read in regards to this issue and I hope others read it to understand. You are saying that to fit in you have to accustom yourself to the majority because you feel like the minority and inferior. This is how I compare it to mikkayla- mikkayla knows she looks Asian but isn't one, so she would have had to try and fit in with not only the outside life she lives but also within her life proving she is fine with whom she is even though she wasn't.

I'm so glad you spoke up because you raised some excellent points. I think people's dislike for mikk has overshadowed their compassion to the issue at hand. They can't see the issue because of the person who is raising it and that's one thing I don't understand at all. Like I said I dislike her, but I don't think she is a terrible human being. I don't think any person in that house is. Sure I huff and puff at moments and I will react, but that is a reaction at that very moment of watching the hm's.

Anyways rambling on lol, but thankyou for the post once again. I enjoy these type of discussions and it has been a long time since I remembered mikkayla as a human being myself and realise I can get caught up with the hype of the show
 
I really want mikkayla to stay especially after that blow up with tim on the live feed. I hope her terrible betting odds makes her fans go overdrive on the voting. the last few weeks the person with the worst odds has ended up staying so crossing my fingers that this is the case here too.

What a gutsy girl, more courage than all the others to confront him and his lighting fires! She deserves to stay. I will be hoping the odds are wrong too :o

I thought she looked absolutely stunning tonight in that blue! Blue is a good colour for her
