'Viable' being my own word, not necessarily quoted. I don't have time to go find the exact response as I'm at work but he sure sounded totally against the idea in that. There's a difference between 'viable' and 'ideal world.' Not necessarily a contradiction!
Even if it is... I think 'old media' are slowly coming around, (because they are forced to) but it will take them quite some time...

Plus, does a "retrospective" recap of previous years hint at the fact it is not returning in 2015? Because why randomly recap past years?
That's my fear too. I mean they did that at the 2008 finale and it was done well. At least they will acknowledge it I guess...

Oh god, the one in 2008 left me an absolute mess. I was trying to be a sane, casual, I-don't-spend-most-of-my-time-on-a-Big Brother-fan-forum individual in front of my family but I couldn't help but burst into tears. My mum had to console me as if someone close to me had died or something, which I suppose was half-true in a lame, reality TV obsessed sort of way.

Yep sounds like it could be the last season. It actually is the 11th season this year (EVERYBODY here knows that) and they did have a little retrospective at the start of the launch show last year for the actual 10th series. This is pointing us to believe that it won't be coming back next year.

That's pretty sweet. I was a pretty casual viewer of that season but I still remember that montage so well. I bet channel 9 will still manage to fuck this up to though.

Yep, it doesn't sound good. At least they will acknowledge it, I was imagining Sonia not commenting either way and being very vague with her sign out, and the show just never coming back.
Thanks for this @matts bb! This is the kind of stuff that I'd never stumble across if it weren't for this forum so I appreciate it. I found it was a really good listen and very interesting. Yet again I'm left wanting to give Alex a hug and tell him that most of us understand the stuff we bitch about is out of his control but unfortunately since no one from 9 ever talks to us, he's the only one we can take aim at. It's not fair though so I'm going to do my best to stop that now.
Yeah in this interview he comes across pretty genuine and actually explains that Nine limits what they can do with the show.
But I don't know the editing is dreadful and out of order. The audience reactions are fake and drive me to tears because they are so annoying. They manipulate who they want evicted and to win. Is Alex to blame for that? Probably. Certainly he can fix some of that annoying stuff we constantly criticise on here?
He probably can fix some of that stuff but it'd be more the case if he'd even be allowed to, I guess. When he said we'd flip if we knew the stuff that they had to put in the rubbish bin, it's like how much control does he really have? Which is what people had speculated about going back to when 9 first picked it up. They kept saying it felt like the network had their paws in it, much moreso than when it was at Ten. And it's true, especially this year. It does feel very "The Block" and inline with 9's other staples.Yeah in this interview he comes across pretty genuine and actually explains that Nine limits what they can do with the show.

It almost feels like it's a Catch-22... without 9 there'd be no BB right now but on the other hand, with 9 this isn't BB and there's nothing anyone can do about it. It's like you're screwed either way.

Yeah, it's so frustrating. I've always hated Nine, and all of this just makes me hate them even more. They've always been "the old channel" in my mind, and somehow with all their colourful graphics and current popular songs being used in every other ad they feel even older. I can't believe the incompetence of those still stuck in the Old Media frame of mind. It really shows just how far we've come in that regard, which is fantastic in a way because woo yeah good on you New Media you're so cool, but also frustrating as fuck because Nine are so blind to it all.
I believe he is right about Penny and Lina. This would be a very different season if you had traded them for the two useless girls: Lisa and that other one.. Katie? Or better yet Cat.
People have argued that the cast isn't the problem, but it sure has been a dull group with few strong personalities, a lack of drive in entertaining the viewers and complacent pairs.
Putting Marina in alone was a huge blunder well. Why not Penny or Lina then?

Yeah I would have loved to see Penny and Lina in there from the start. Unfortunately potentially we will only get four weeks coverage of them. What a waste.
And to think we had to put up with housemates like Jake who did absolutely nothing and was only there to pursue his rapping career who was probably only put in there in the first place because he was Tim Dormer's room mate. That could have been a spot for someone genuine like Penny or Lina. Having previous housemate connections doesn't mean they are going to be entertaining Alex. Hope he learnt that this year unfortunately the hard way though.

Watch this! It's information on Big Brother, really important information all about evictions, housemates and even maybe about Big Brother next year. QUICK WATCH IT!

I just assumed they were referring to doing something similar to what they did at the BB09 Finale (with all the winners, etc) and the BB10 Launch (the "Hall Of Fame" opening intro).Yep, it doesn't sound good. At least they will acknowledge it, I was imagining Sonia not commenting either way and being very vague with her sign out, and the show just never coming back.
In saying that, I've actually been recently mulling over them doing another retrospect montage again but unfortunately I think the chances of getting a full-length one are quite slim. When they did it in 2008 it truly marked the end of an era (P.S. I balled my eyes when it aired too

When you re-watch the montage from the BB08 Finale, I think it becomes clear that (as much as I hate to admit it) a lot of that content just wouldn't resonate with the typical general Big Brother viewers nowadays, at least nowhere near as much as it obviously did back then.
Don't get me wrong, I basically GET OFF on any kind of archive footage from BBAU being re-shown in any form

It's okay though...just means there's more room for my big upcoming project to fill its space instead. That's another clue @marquisite.

Does anyone else pick up on the language that is highly suggestive that there is a series next year but then pretty much say Mike won't have a job at channel 9 next year.
Let's pray for channel 10 picking it up

Yup. I'm hoping that after all the constant negative comments on the official FB page, that Endemol THEMSELVES might refuse to let Nine have it again.Does anyone else pick up on the language that is highly suggestive that there is a series next year but then pretty much say Mike won't have a job at channel 9 next year.
