Plus, does a "retrospective" recap of previous years hint at the fact it is not returning in 2015? Because why randomly recap past years?
That's my fear too. I mean they did that at the 2008 finale and it was done well. At least they will acknowledge it I guess...
Oh god, the one in 2008 left me an absolute mess. I was trying to be a sane, casual, I-don't-spend-most-of-my-time-on-a-Big Brother-fan-forum individual in front of my family but I couldn't help but burst into tears. My mum had to console me as if someone close to me had died or something, which I suppose was half-true in a lame, reality TV obsessed sort of way.
Yep sounds like it could be the last season. It actually is the 11th season this year (EVERYBODY here knows that) and they did have a little retrospective at the start of the launch show last year for the actual 10th series. This is pointing us to believe that it won't be coming back next year.
That's pretty sweet. I was a pretty casual viewer of that season but I still remember that montage so well. I bet channel 9 will still manage to fuck this up to though.
Yep, it doesn't sound good. At least they will acknowledge it, I was imagining Sonia not commenting either way and being very vague with her sign out, and the show just never coming back.
I just assumed they were referring to doing something similar to what they did at the BB09 Finale (with all the winners, etc) and the BB10 Launch (the "Hall Of Fame" opening intro).
In saying that, I've actually been recently mulling over them doing another retrospect montage again but unfortunately I think the chances of getting a full-length one are quite slim. When they did it in 2008 it truly marked the end of an era (P.S. I
balled my eyes when it aired too

) and it ended eight years of pretty major event TV. The BB08 Finale itself was heavily promoted as "the end" (remember that
amazing celebratory promo Channel 10 was using in the lead-up?) and it was very significantly so.
When you
re-watch the montage from the BB08 Finale, I think it becomes clear that (as much as I hate to admit it) a lot of that content just wouldn't resonate with the typical general Big Brother viewers nowadays, at least nowhere near as much as it obviously did back then.
Don't get me wrong, I basically GET OFF on
any kind of archive footage from BBAU being re-shown in any form

, but I just don't think that another in-depth tribute like that would have the same impact today. I definitely wouldn't mind SOME sort of half-decent retro package shown at this year's Finale though (
*cough* Alex), but I don't believe we'll get anything on par with BB08's one.
It's okay though...just means there's more room for my big upcoming project to fill its space instead. That's another clue @marquisite.
