Matthew is gutless

Ed's far worse in my opinion. Not only does he refrain from having one (an opinion) to avoid confrontation but when he starts to show some emotion through frustration or annoyance he says his little piece to Matt/Tahan/Caleb/Heidi then shuts up and never handles it like a grown adult which I'm sure if he did in a civilized and calm manner would at least score him some brownie points with the viewers.

Then Ed puts Jade up for possible eviction (one could say maybe because himself, Matt, Tahan or whoever could backdoor Tim later on after the challenge) looking like a scared little mouse because of Tim. Then when Drew swaps Jade with Matt, I remember Ed making a comment in the kitchen afterwards about how Drew was scared and/or gutless by not putting Tim up. Is Ed secretly doing coke or possibly meth without us knowing?

So in regards to Matthew himself, it's hard for me to see how big his guts are when you have to look past Ed's void of a midsection to see it.

^ Agree completely! Well said! x

I have to agree. Thank you informing us on the Recognition. Like others have said, comparing this to war and reality tv is ridiculous. For one after being in war, this all looks so petty to Matt I'd say.

This is why I really, genuinely like Matt.

Whether you agree or not with his previous job, he's a man who's been through real hell. He's seen the worst of it - things that very few people see in our day and age (from our part of the world). He knows what to value. He knows that what Tully is complaining about is stupid, it's why he backed away from her once he saw what her mentality is like. To him, it's probably so stupid that a girl whose worst moment in life was a moment that happened to her MOTHER, not her herself. I know that sounds insensitive, but a lot of people unfortunately have moments like that in their lives. Many of us have lost parents (for good) and can still see the bright side of life. Matt's disdain for her attitude is because he knows she lives a privileged life compared to most, yet acts as if her life is miserable.

I couldn't care less whether he says something to her or not. It's not his responsibility to set her straight. He's allowed to dislike her behaviour - with or without Drew - and not have to lead the intervention. I'm not sure where people get the idea that he or Ed have to do this from. Mikkayla made my eyes roll when she said they were pussies. She needs to 1) wash her mouth out with soap, 2) get some class, 3) shut the fuck up.

Exactly my point. He has seen the bad side of things and seen how lucky we are compared to people around the world, so why not be grateful? I totally see this side of Matt. And you are so right. Why should he have to say anything to tully. He did it once and it's enough. She is a grown woman and he isn't there to play the father role.

He gave a run down of accolades he received during his active service so he has been recognized.

I could have sworn the thread title read "Ed is so gutless". Then I re-read it as "Drew is so gutless" Matt though? Sorry. But I can't begin to agree when there are others better suited to the title.

The medals he got were for length of service or for participation. He said he had one for Iraq, one for Afghanistan, some for x years of service. Does everyone get on for going, or are they only given if you do something particularly special?

When Matt entered the house, he was one of my favourites. Now, not so much. Him putting the bucket on his head and hitting it seemed pretty rude to me. I like how he told Tully she was too negative, but that's about it. I don't dislike him, he just doesn't do much for the show these days. If he doesn't go this week, he will go soon either way. I just really would like to see him up his game. I think he has potential to last longer if he made more an effort. But considering he has no contact with any of the audience, he won't know what we want to see.

But Matt, gutless? I would not describe him that way. Clearly the "Gutless" crown belongs to Ed.

both Ed and Matt to me are useless to watch, OK I may dislike Tim a lot but at least he give us something to scream at the TV with. Ed and Matt really dont .

in my mind active service = doing something special. its not like they send you over there for a holiday.

but yeah, i think there are medals for service and others for doing something above and beyond the call.....i think, im happy for someone to correct me.

Matt has it all over Ed in terms of guts and bringing interest to the show. At least he has the guts to stand up to Tully. Ed doesn't even have the guts to talk to Jade in intelligible utterances and tell her that he's not interested. Instead he lets her think he's interested, sleeps in her bed, and then spends the next day joining in with the other housemates laughing about her because she won't take the hint.

Now that is gutless.

Please everyone vote to save Matt (and/or the sisters) today so that we can get this cowardly plank of wood out of the house.

I do agree that Matt deserves to stay over Ed as Ed is one of the most boring and weak housemates ever.
But unfortunately Ed has his footy brother's campaign to save him and the shallow female vote to save because they find him attractive.
