Masterchef 2018

I felt a bit sorry for the marron, because I have an electric blue pet yabbie in my aquarium called Lucy Clawless.
You'll think I'm mad, but I hand feed her an algae pellet and a piece of carrot every morning and night, and she gets so excited.
She got her name because she lost her claw, but has shed her shell 4 times since then and it grew back fully.

I love her already. She sounds like a real cutie!

...bwahaha!... what a brilliant name lol!... funny as!... cheers.

Thanks! I just read the earlier conversation. She isn't like the common brown ones kxk posted, but not exactly like the blue marron either. As I bought her in a pet shop she isn't just from a creek somewhere, and looks much like this, and gets bigger and brighter every time she sheds her shell.

...she's gorgeous!... I have Koi Carp in a pond in my back yard and each one of them have their own 'personalities' in their movements and actions so I can understand how you form a sort of 'bond' with them... lol!... cheers.

Lucy could also be a co-host on my show Meglos. Tho Lucy's empathy maybe tested watching some of her distant family boiling away in pots. I guess the logical thing to do would be to ask Lucy if she had a problem with that. She has already shown considerable adaptability and may relish the role of being a super yabbie that persuaded you to keep her as a pet and not a meal.:p

I don't know if yabbies are big on family empathy, I think she'd probably be ok with it as long it wasn't her.

That was me, glad someone else finds it amusing ;)
I had another one called Yabbie Yaxley which doesn't mean anything but I liked the sound of it. Yaxley escaped from the tank (by climbing the heater) though and I found him dead behind the tank.

...'Yabbie Yaxley'?... lol!... our daughter used to call her budgie 'Oochie Wah Wah' for some reason unbeknownst to even herself... she said that it just 'sounded nice' so I can see where you're coming from lol!... and... ouhies!... poor Yabbie... cheers.

Sorry for turning the Masterchef thread into yabbie central, but I don't think people mind so much if we go off-topic between episodes.

Those koi sound great, and yes they do have their own personalities. My mum has a pond with about 20 goldfish and comets and shubunkins of varying colours and sizes, they are a great pet.

Awww, she's a lucky girl to have someone like you looking after her. I read the comment about your other yabbie - I was a Science nerd in High School and the Yabbie tank (for the Marine Studies students) was next to Science block and I remember seeing Yabbies trying to escape their experimental confines down the hallway of the Science Building like Yabbie Yaxley

...don't apologise Meglos... when the Live posting stops it's open slather for anything basically... so no need to worry my friend... cheers.

They are very enterprising and can escape from anything without a lid, and can breathe for awhile on land. I was never particularly happy with dissecting live specimens at school, I felt like setting them all free like Elliot with the frogs in ET.
