Masterchef 2018

The ratings are still really good so it seems the public doesn’t mind. And TBH I am really liking the show this year. Most of the contestants featured have been really good. Gordon and Nigella would be way too expensive to have for the whole season and they have other shows that they film during the year so they wouldn’t be able to stay for the whole season.
Thanks hon me too

I think Kristen can get a little too flustered, that was obvious last night.
I really don't dislike anyone still in the competition, the problem for me is the obvious favourtism towards 2 or 3 people from Gary and George especially(I always feel like Matt is a bit more impartial and judges the food on its merits).
I believe we'll have a male winner this year, and either Sashi or Khanh or Reece taking it out would be a good outcome.

Did someone win the super power?
And what is it?

No that will be given out at the end of the week. Each day someone will go into elimination with the last person standing receiving the super power. They haven't revealed what it is yet but have stated that it's the most powerful advantage in Masterchef history and is more valuable than an immunity pin.

Why would they do that when Masterchef is one of the only shows that rates well for them? A show that’s been going on for 10 years is never going to be as good as it was at the start. To me it’s still highly watchable.

...this is one of the big reasons that I like about your postings sav0001... you are always the 'voice of reason' within these forums at times and believe me... we need someone like that to keep us in check at times lol!... I totally agree with you about how well this rates for them... obviously it is a big rater and it will be around to celebrate it's 20th year anniversary too no doubt... but in saying that I still believe that the show needs to trim down and change... I've only watched the last 3 or 4 seasons from memory but I have noticed that even in that short time that the show is slowly becoming more and more bogged down by Gary and George's obvious manipulations of what results that they want... the only time this changes is when a guest judge stands their ground about a dish and then Matt gets on board... then the result is on an equal playing field... that's just one example...

...another example is that they seem to be 'padding out' the weeks with extra stuff and misinformation as far as I am concerned anyway... just for the reason that you gave sav0001... to keep getting the ratings... that's fair enough but just take last week where they kept blah blahhing on about 'Royals WEEK'... it was more like Royals 15 minutes' in reality... and Charlie didn't even taste anything at all (due to Royal protocol as someone told us)... with them calling it 'Royals week' myself (and perhaps others) may have expected Charlie and his other half to be on a least a couple of nights to fulfill it's 'Royals week' blurb... they should have said 'Royal Night' if anything... and also this week... it's the sooper dooper mega survivor week... why drag it out for the week?... usually they could say that the bottom 3 are in the elimination in one night... (or perhaps the bottom 6 in one night?)... it seems to me at least like they are also saying too much of "this is the biggest thing in Masterchef history... blah blah!" or "you will be the first in Masterchef history to... blah blah blah!"... why the need for that?... they're beginning to sound like Channels 9 and 7 with their often over exaggerated claims just to sell the show... they don't need to say all of that guff because as you say... it's one of their highest rating showsfor thrm anyway...

...when I started to watch the show (I think 3 years ago or maybe 4 as I said before) that the show was brilliant but even in the last two years I've seen it being slowly over inflating itself with creating each of the contestants with a 'storyline for their journey' ... (MKR does that and it loses viewers because of it in my opinion)... earlier than that there were contestants that just cooked and got through on their own merits from what I saw back then... I've had my kids and even my grand kids telling me that Masterchef's best episodes were the first 6 or 7 years of the show were and that it needs to change... especially changing the 2 judges we all complain about... that would be a good start...

...I sometimes wish that I started to watch Masterchef from season one to just know what they've said about the first 5-7 years and whether it's true or not... I can't be arsed to try and track it all down to be honest lol!... anyhow... that's my take on it anyway... but I'm glad that yourself and others are still finding it highly watchable my friend... perhaps I'm just too 'picky' and 'finnicky' my friend?... lol!... cheers.

Khan is a better cook than Kirsten so I have no problem with that. I think maybe you need a break from this show if it’s getting you this wound up.

...haha!... yes again my friend... I agree with you being the 'voice of reason' yet again lol!... I think that perhaps I do need to have a break too to be honest but it's got what?... a week or two left?... so I may as well see it out until the end I guess?... but I'll let you in on a little secret sav0001... if nothing changes after a couple of weeks next year and Gary and George do the same old same old next season I'll be dumping the show like I did MKR 2 years ago...

...it's the same with other shows... I'm only watching the first 3 nights of 'The Bachelor' next time around out of pure curiosity and to see what the new dude is like... if I see that I probably won't be getting invested in the show by then I will dump it... I will not be watching 'The Bachelorette' or 'Bachelor in Paradise' or 'Love Island' or any other of those types of shows anymore... I never used to bother to watch Reality Shows at all because I get too embroiled in the shows... when I pick the ones that I like I become 'protective' of them and because I get so invested with them I watch the show with my heart and emotions rather than watching it with my mind and logically... lol!... hence my rigorous and emotional responses within these threads and not with much logic behind them at times lol!...

...but as I said sav0001... now that I'm dropping a few shows from my viewing habits perhaps logic will prevail in the end?... lol!... so you are right... maybe I do need a break from this show too my friend... and it will probably happen within the first couple of weeks of next season... we'll have to wait and see I guess?... lol!... cheers.

From the 2009 series....

Quote of the Day

"I always think a great panacotta totters and wobbles like a Rubenesque woman on five inch stilettos ... (pause ... pause ... ) ... gorgeous!" - Matt Preston

...bwahahaha!... as I said above... I missed those seasons but that is a ripper!... lol!... cheers.

They’re available on tenplay

I've watched every episode of Masterchef, and it really is a different show now. It was much more about serious home cooks who could come up with amazing things. Now it's a bit like... anything will do, and it won't be judged fairly anyway.

Nooooooo! Please don't make me suffer alone. The funny comments are much better than the shows themselves. But I will really struggle with the honey badger guy, I know it.

...sorry my friend... but 'The Bachelorette' and 'Bachelor in Paradise' and 'Love Island' are definitely are off my list next time around because their banality is doing my head in big time... I watched the 3 shows above because some of you asked me to 'give them ago' and to see what the shows are like and I thought 'why not?'... but in all honesty I find them to be so bloody fake shallow and boring that all the voices in my head all cry out to me 'PLEASE!!!... no more!"... the trouble with those voices is that they gang up on me until I relent... lol!...

...I seriously cannot believe that really shallow love-me-do's whose whole world of romance revolves around their phones and social media can honestly 'fall in love' with someone with 194 cameras and 400 crew around them within a few weeks... it suspends belief... my logical side of my brain (yes it does kick in sometimes lol!) tells me that it is ridiculous that they could so the shows are out for me I'm afraid... I'm saving myself for 'Australian Survivor' and 'I'm a Celeb' mainly now... plus 'Masterchef' next year if things change...

...I may 'hover in and out' of those threads and post a random comment every now and then but that would be my limit methinks!... if my heart isn't in it any longer then it's a 'no' from me I'm afraid my friend... anyway... you guys will probably have more fun without my bitching and negativity lol!... cheers.
