What you are getting is not yet known to be fact, re ISIS.
This picture looks pretty credible to me.

In any event it's obvious that followers of 'The Religion of Peace' have struck again.

This is the ISIS/ISIL flag.

As you can see, different flag.

The flag at the cafe is usually the one to show unity for Palestinians so perhaps there is more to it that you or I may understand.

ISIS/ISIL is more a Wahhabist movement.

Hasn't it already been established that the flag WAS NOT an ISIS flag...

This thing in the the 5th hour now, maybe everyone needs to clam down and just wait to see how this thing plays out. I'm sure the the coming days lots of more information will come out, but right now lets keep our thoughts with the innocent people who were caught up in this and pray that they all make it out safely.

Two barristers who I've worked with and am in works with works in that same building. I've tried calling but nothing - also my friend works there and her phone is also off. I just cannot stand the thought of any of them being inside that place as hostages. The thought just makes me sick. I hope they are released safely, all of the hostages. As soon as I heard this news in the morning, I had to make so many calls, including my sister who was travelling to Central for uni - but the only people who I have not heard back from are them 3, and they work in that place :(

I agree with you an my mind is in the same place as yours. I however loath assumptions based on ignorance and perhaps bigotry.

I work two blocks away from Martin Place. I was out at a meeting when it happened, soon after my whole building went into lockdown. No-one could leave or enter the building. I was ordered straight home. I actually felt physically sick in the city. Everyone was leaving, helicopters, police everywhere.

I hope it resolves soon and all the hostages can leave.

All my work have been ordered not to use their phones as well. I hope they're okay.

An off-shoot of a muslim terrrorist organisation? Same difference. *meh*

Other than the fact they're prepared to kill innocent non muslim lives to further their cause (whatever that might be) I couldn't care less what these filth are about, end of.

I have family and friends who messaged that they were in lockdown atm and said that they would message us when they can, but are safe. Hopefully that's what is happening for your friends too

Edit: just now I received a message from one of them saying that they have been evacuated and are heading home now. Hopefully not too long for your colleagues and friend :)

The advice I learned from 9/11 is that it's helpful to stick to routine and to just turn the news off at some point. It's damaging to your mental health to just keep watching the same stuff over and over.
