It's actually very OG BB to keep on with the task, but they should be enforcing the rules.

I'm watching 2005 BBUK. They literally failed every task on the first day and the narrator tells the audience this, but the producers don't tell the HMs till the end of the task.

Doesn't quite work when Bruce and Holly will just break the rules with no consequences

Even if housemates give up on a task, production never ends it early. Tale as old as time. This is the tension that makes for good TV.

Can't believe in the space of 5 hours this show went from Love Island to OG Big Brother UK levels of drama and fighting.

These types of tasks generally push some housemates to their limits. When there's already plenty of tension in the house, it's not entirely surprising that this has been the straw that has broke the camel's back.
