Last movie you saw

Babylon AD

watched the bluray the other night. Quite a good film. Basically it's set in the future and Vin Diesal is a mercenary who gets hired to transport this unique pretty young lady from russia into america. It's a gritty, future, and yeah, the girl is more than just a normal girl. It's the sort of film that lets you into what it's all about later on in the film, and although then it misses the opportunity to fully explore the story and the ideas it's quite interesting. There is a similarity to the more superior children of men. In some ways this is more, children of men for a younger audience, more action, less of the intellectual stuff, less of the realism. It was good, although definitely not a film for everyone. I do think it's a film that god a bad wrap from the press, although i understand what was released in cinemas was whats on dvd.
 
Oh for sure.. I love the original Scary movie, but Liked only that one, and number 4 I skipped over 2 and 3 and I have a soft spot for Superhero movie. I think it's stupid and fun

Scary Movie 2 sucks - not in a "so bad it's good way" but in a "what a waste" way. I actually like Scary Movie 3. No scene cracks me up more than Brenda fighting the chick from ring...

City of Ember

It seems a lot of work went into this film, a good cast, large cool sets, however it was just lacking. There was a really solid concept that just wasn't really explored and so the film never engaged you. There was no sense of danger or impending doom, and then when things fit together it just all fell flat.

The film is set in an underground city, where for 200 years people have lived and died, and have forgotten or not known about the outside world. However the city was only meant to last 200 years and that time has past and the machinery that sustains the people is running low and the key to getting out has been lost and is up two two teenagers to find the answer. This is due to the adult population basically being raised to not asked question just do there job live their lives. There was a really interesting comment in this film about modern society which is never explored. It just was a missed opportunity and is a shame because a lot of work went into the film. I wanted it to capture my imagination but it never did so.
I don't know if the problem is the audience they were aiming for was too young for the subject matter, and they didn't know how to push it, didn't want to get dark, or get scary, which in the end made the film fall flat.
 
Scary Movie films, first one was sort of a flash in the pan, came at the right time, but wasn't as funny or as good as it should have been.

Number 2.. yeah i saw it once can't remember a thing about it.

3 & 4 were a better version of the current spoof genre, although the suffered from seeming to be written way too quickly. While miles above shit like meet the spartans, they felt that they were cranked out with out much attention or love.

I think there's always a place for these sort of light entertainment. They were watchable unlike those meet the spartan type spoof movies which are utter shit.
 
The Hangover

This is a good solid comedy. It's got a decent run time, consistently funny and amusing. Got a good cast, as KxK says, they're likeable. Everyones good. It's just a solid comedy. Better than most, there are lots of laughs but really few ig any huge laughs. I'm trying to think of anything that really stood out as a classic moment. Or quotable. I am sure with it's boxoffice success there'll be a sequel and I do early look forward to it. It has a high ratio of good laughs, solid comedy, but little stand out brilliant moments, which is what prevents from elevating it to the level of a modern classic comedy.
It was very funny and entertaining though.
 
yeah although i think it's just a case of lots of rapid laughs.

I liked how todd phillips brought the wedding band from old school over to this film. Very nice touch!
 
Something's Gotta Give.

Not normal for someone my age to like this movie so much, but I think it's just generally hilarious. One of the few romance movies (I'm not a big fan of the genre) where people actually say intelligent things and do untypical things for the genre. I do like it.
 
The Hangover - I loved this movie, there is a laugh every 5 to 10 minutes from something they say or something that happens. It's been a long time since I've seen an adult comedy that was so funny. This ticked all the boxes. I had never seen a trailor and didn't know anything about the plot so I was even more amused about how the movie unfolds. I'm giggling now thinking back over the tooth, the hotel room, the wedding singer lol - I am definitely going to watch this again, the only thing is I didn't get to see the closing credits...everyone is raving about them, I'll have to try and find them online.
 
Watched a documentry called "Dear Zachary: A note to a son about his father" i highly reccomend seeing this movie without finding too much about it...it does feel alittle bit long but its interesting and an absolute gut wrenching tear fest
 
Slumdog Millionaire
This is about the 4th time I've seen it and I just love it. It's such a beautiful, feel good film that is great to watch when you feel disheartened with humanity and life. I feel like a girl for crying during it though. Maybe I'm PMSing.

Bay: 'I've had enough of Transformers world'

Michael Bay has reportedly revealed that he does not plan to return for Transformers 3.

Paramount and DreamWorks greenlit a third cinematic outing for the Autobots and Decepticons in March, giving the film a July 1, 2011 release date.

A proposed sequel is now in development, but the director of the first two instalments has "had enough of the Transformers world", Total Film reports.

He said: "It's easy to go shoot an art movie in a winery in the South of France. But people have no idea how hard it is to create something like Transformers.

"After the three-and-a-half years I've spent making these movies, I feel like I've had enough of the Transformers world."

He added: "I need to do something totally divergent, something without any explosions."

You know what it'd be. It'd be the short turn around. Transformers one was setting the ground and then Bay just went nuts for the sequel. During the writers strike he just planned and planned action scenes around a story he wanted to do. He is one of the best action directors around, and then as soon as the strike was over he got the writers to polish the story and action into a script. Don't worry same writers as the first movie and they also wrote the awesome new star trek. He's probably just creatively burned out on the idea. I think the problem is the studio is pushing for a film sooner than he wants. Creatively burnt out and wanting to do something else before going back.

He should get around to something new and bad boys 3. The studio would be wise to let him do that and go back. For batman they let Chris Nolan do a film between. I think Bay should get that opportunity. I think he was a perfect match for transformers and the studio need to respect that and not just try and crank out as many films as soon as they can as possible.

Actually watching the first one again, I wonder if some of the writers did that whilst sleeping. The dialogue really is attrocious.... It's only popular because it's transformers and because it is an action film with pretty explosions.
