Last movie you saw

Anti-Trust

A relatively good movie. It's a story of computer nerds who are working on video compression software, and one of them gets lured to this computer company called NURV which is run by Tim Robbins doing a kind of Bill Gates impersonation of sorts. Actually there's a line in the film where the real Bill Gates gets mentioned but only when the movie's computer billionaire brags about his house compared to the one Gates owns in the real world.

Anyway computer nerd played by Ryan Phillipe gets sucked into working for NURV to finish their video compression software for a satellite system, and software that is supposed to send stuff to ANY device. It would seem any TV, cellphone, computer capable of video communication. Quite far fetched really considering how many devices have different video protocols and stuff.

Anyway he starts his job gets sucked into the flash environs of his newfound place of employment. His long standing girlfriend played by Claire Forlani (nice) is not all that she seems. He has left long standing friends on the outside to go work at NURV and one of them Teddy is killed . It would seem a day after his death Phillipe's character gets given a piece of computer code to help him along by his boss played by Robbins.

He soon pieces together that the code they are getting for most of their products and software is ripped off other programmers, and he soon finds out that they have been murdered by Robbins lackeys...

The rest is I kind of predictable, but not in the usual sense. You'll see stuff coming but there are a couple of twists I didn't expect. Computer nerd Phillipe saves the day of course but not before nearly losing his head.

I liked this movie and give it a 6/10 for trying. Nice atmosphere and sets. I loved the lighting of the whole film it was good. Forlani was good as the double crossing "girlfriend" and Rachel Leigh Cook as Phillipe's "ally" ...

Overall an entertaining movie.
 
They need to bring back the Sunday movie on free to air TV. They used to paly some quite good flicks in the last couple of years. Like the LOTR trilogy, for example.

A few Fridays ago they played "King Kong", on 7 I think. That's not much good. Most folks are out on Friday night.

Wasn't it channel 10?

anyway not to worry watching that save me the pain of buying it. Howcome this movie is now in the under $10 bin I wonder? Because it was pretty crap
 
Do you mean Peter Jackson's "King Kong"? I thought it was good fun watch, without being earth shatteringly good. A popcorn flick.
 
Only I don't think most video stores will be carrying the film I was talking of....which was a figment of my own imagination.

quickflix it. anyway the movie wasn't anything to scream home about. there is one deleted scene in the MA version of the DVD where ryan anal ****s a woman but u could probably find the clip on utube anyway.

The Net is a better cyber thriller.
 
I just like Ryan, particularly in "Studio 54". And when he got drunk at the Golden Globes, that was a riot.

The local version of Anti Trust has the scene where Ryan has rough bumsex with the Claire Forlani character. But it's in the deleted scenes and not in the actual movie which I find irritating because it seems just after he finds out she was only there to set him up... So kind of like revenge.
 
Not the entire time, there was that particular shirt he kept wearing. And what a shirt!
 
Grindhouse (Planet Terror/Death Proof) on dvd.

Probably not as good on their own as it would have been with the double feature. But still enjoyable, Planet Terror was the better of the two though.
 
Waiting for a decent movie to come on at our local multiplex (provided we can dodge Chapel St drive by shootings). So we can use up our gold class passes.

We were there yesterday, the gold class offers 3 course meals possibly with drinks, for only $35. No doubt that is over and above the price of the gold class tickets.

Yesterday there was absolutely nothing there worth seeing. Unless you want to see a C grade horror called "Prom Night" (probably sequel number 10), or the U2 3-d movie. Unfortunately the latter is strictly for fans and people called Bono.

Prom Night is a remake .... Yes another bloody remake
 
I watched 'Tin Man' on DVD, which is a modern day take of The Wizard of Oz.

I really enjoyed it, although I didnt realise it went for over 5 hours. It may have been a made for TV mini series or something.

There were 3 parts to it. Part One keeping a similar storyline to the book, but in a SciFi type of way.
Then parts 2 and 3 went on a totally different tangent.
Some parts of the movie reminded me of the original Star Wars trilogy (settings and music), Total Recall and the movie when Sly stallone was a cop (Robocop??)

The characters were great, some of the editing was a bit dodgy (which is why I think it was made for TV) and I would recommend this for a rainy afternoon!! Big thumbs up!

That's a good one but I didn't much care for their rationalisation of the Wicked witch. "misunderstood" my ass she was a baddie plain and simple. lol

I still didnt predict the ending though, which is always good.
(or maybe Im a bit slow!! LOL)
