Last movie you saw

Not sure if its already mentioned here somewhere but I loved Blood Diamond, saw it a while ago now and again on Fox last week, a movie with a story, and I thought Leonardo's south african accent was pretty good.

Blood Diamond was great.. A movie with a real story.

Now people do know conflict diamons are real don't you and they do caome from Sierra Leone. I wonder if this movie was based on some kind of real story because it felt like that. IMO

Not sure if it is based on some kind of real story, cant find any reference to it in any of the reviews.
I think its near impossible to identify a conflict diamond even if you were trying not to buy one.

I know.. but they'res still highly illegal to have on you. So how in the hell would customs know either? In one sense it's silly since there are no identifying marks on the stones, as such.

I won't turn this thread into a political one, but 'conflict' or 'blood' diamonds are very real, and are a very real problem. Anyone purchasing diamonds should make sure they are 'ethical diamonds' and not contributing to the problem. Here are some good websites about it

This site has some great downloads, including a diamond buyers guide and some factsheets about conflict diamonds.

I now return you to your regular programming. ;)

I wasn't downplaying this Raven.... I just wanted to point out that the stones are hard to identify. The movie was a story that had to be told

They are hard for the average person to identify, yes, but diamond sellers/wholesalers/retailers know where the stones come from. That's why you should ask them if you're buying diamonds :)

Or, alternately, buy Argyle diamonds ;)

Thanks for the links Raven, interesting reading.

It would be nice to be able to have some diamond buying power, and put some of these sellers to the test, but in reality the only diamond I will probably ever have is the one in my engagement ring (which as far as I know is conflict free).

BOT, recently saw The Brave One with Jodie Foster and really enjoyed it.

You must write a review :)

Is it available to buy yet? I'm dying to get my hands on that.

Saw Horton last night with my daughter and i have to say i loved it. It had some really funny lol moments.

Saw "There Will Be Blood" Last weekend.

There's only one word for this movie.

Odd.

Especially the ending.

Hi Choc, not sure if you can buy it yet (actually not sure whether your asking about Blood Diamond or The Brave One), and there is no way I'm writing a review....;) lol - I'm just not good at that sort of thing...

I was going to put some links in for movie reviews but most of the reviews of The Brave One tell too much about what happens in the movie IMO.

The Brave One is the one I'm after. I'm a big Jodie Foster fan. I have a few of her films but want more.... But not all her roles have been good ones. While I did enjoy Flightplan I kind of worked out the big surprise about 30 ish minutes into the film.. And once it was confirmed it was like all over red rover for that movie. Plus some of it just didn't make a lot of sense. The plane for example seemed increddibly huge inside but the outside FX shots of the plane just didn't add up..... But I'm kinda picky that way ... LOL

I loved her in Little Man Tate, but I've never seen Taxi Driver, and I feel iffy about buying "The Accused"

I would recommend buying The Brave One, I am also a bit of a Jodie fan....loved Panic Room and of course Silence of the Lambs.

Watched an oldie but a goodie the other night on Fox "Stir of Echoes" also a bit of a Kevin Bacon fan, he's a cutie;)

Ooh did you like him in Hollow Man, not that you could see him but he did a good job of being evil..

Speaking of Jodie Foster, saw Nim's Island tonight. Again my daughter and I loved it. Bit of an abruptish sort of ending, but it was a really lovely movie.

Saw Horton last night with my daughter and i have to say i loved it. It had some really funny lol moments.

I went and saw this yesterday with 90 year 4 students.
I laughed at completely different times than the kids.
Then they all looked at me like I was a weirdo.
Pfft. Kids nowadays.

I just watched Dario Argento's Phenomena on DVD, absolutely brilliant! See avatar.

In the cinemas, I watched the original double feature cut of Grindhouse at the Astor in St. Kilda last week and it was heaps of fun. The audience were completely into it and by the sounds of cheers they liked Death Proof as much as Planet Terror - I hate that such a roller coaster ride of a film bombed in the States.
