[QUOTE="Winterbourne, post: 2214586, . Here in CZ we have an ice cream delightfully called a Bigger. It is a drippy gooey caramel core, with vanilla ice cream and a Gaytime-like choc and bickie coat.[/QUOTE]
Stupid autocorrect. It is called a "Nogger'. If I meant Bigger, I would have said so.
Interesting tales of eating tubs of soggy biscuits after a golden Gaytime in this thread.
M&Ms... Apart from ET, M&Ms remind me of independence... Summer 1984 I believe they appeared in Aust, and on a family summer holiday in a small beach side town, I took off on my bmx, a jingle of coins in my board shorts. Hot, languid day. The kiosk at the caravan park called me. I was buying something I wanted alone. I wasn't sharing, and my parents would not even know. I was buying M&Ms, recently arrived from the US, obviously normal there, as evidenced by ET, but glamorous and ... not exotic, but the glamorous big city or American equivalent to my child brain. Anyway, I was buying M&Ms for myself when I was out by myself on my bike, and no one knew where I was pedaling. Perhaps even over that bridge with the fishermen.
They had two types. Peanut and plain. I wanted peanut, but knew I should know about plain too, in order to really know about M&Ms not just from the TV. I bought a bag of each, and rode off on the sun-melty main street, exploring the wide sandy back streets, of pastel houses on stilts, and indeed across the bridge, lined with fishermen, to the bushlined road along the river and away.
And periodically I would stop. Take the packet from my pocket, and eat some M&Ms. I realise now it was with the same frame of mind that I had a cigarette in Red Square, or rested at midnight in a park below the Eiffel Tower.
So, they come in pineapple now, huh? The filling, like the peanut butter ones, or is the coating pineappled?
