Episode I'm A Celebrity! AU (2016) - Episode Discussion

I think Jo Beth's change in attitude towards Laurina came about because she realised that she was being sent on tucker trials as a result of the public not liking those arguments with Laurina. I am not convinced there was any other reason for her change in behaviour.
I would also like to know why Laurina moved away from Shane and Havana. Shane seems very interested in Havana. I started off liking him but going off him really quickly now.
The cynic in me agrees that she's probably wised up and doesn't want to be seen as a bitch. Better late than never though.

I actually do agree, it would've been really hard to concentrate if she was talking while they were working it out. But he got snippy with her way after everyone had given up because the bacon was burnt. He didn't like that they were continuing to work it out when he thought there was no point, they'd already lost. I just thought it was unnecessary to tell them to quit trying to work something out if they enjoyed doing it :)
totally agree ... being stuck there with little outside stimulation a puzzle like that would be something else to focus on and i admit to sitting at work yesterday and working it out myself ... im a tragic for word and number puzzles lol

What was the puzzle? I am useless at them usually.

The Laurina stuff reminds of Estelle back in 2012 - always 2 sides to every story and we will never get the full picture for either, but it really does seem like the camp have just made up their mind about Laurina and she can do no right. I see this in real life and have been guilty of it myself, when someone is already getting on my nerves for one reason or another then subsequent things they say fuel that emotion when someone else could say the same thing with a different outcome. It's human nature I guess but I find it interesting to watch, as well as uncomfortable at times.

I think if I was in there my luxury item would have been a book of brain teasers or puzzles for the group to think and enjoy.

It's very 'Big Brother'. I am loving watching and reading! (Although the ten website keeps 'blipping' on about every second episode, at least from here with my pretend Australian IP address, but I get to see some at least. It's fun!)

What was the puzzle? I am useless at them usually.
I would have to go back to the website which would be too traumatic because it keeps blipping on me from here, but it was an algebra problem. There was a combination lock with numbers ABCD and a bunch of statements like A is twice B+C, D is 3 - B, blah blah, what is ABCD? Hey had to solve (simple) simultaneous equations to unlock the barbecue to access the 'cooked' (burning/charred) bacon. It didn't look super tricky but I still would have liked a pen and paper and I don't know whether they have them, plus Val kept repeating the 'equations' out loud over and over which would have made it really hard to concentrate.

I feel sorry for Dean at this point, they have shut him down and shoved him off to irrelevant same as Laurina.
It is quite gross, listening to them at times when they talk over others or ignore them, and it is blatant at times.
And val the old cow, camp scrambled eggs are almost the same as an omelette, most of my omelettes end up looking like scrambled eggs.

The core bitchy crew, who think they are better than everyone, and love to blindly follow rules - would have been good nazis, omg they are nazis.
Give me rebels and rule breakers, like Acmal & Laurina, far more fun and smarts, never follow rules blindly.

It is quite funny watching the irony of 2 dirtbags like Warne & Fev preach about inappropriate behaviour.

Miranda Kerr is paying them a visit this weekend, with luxury beauty items - watch Shane drool.
Vote off Shane/Anthony/Bonnie, the biggest bitches with tiny brains.

The puzzle was:

Yummy bacon for you to earn,
Solve the equation
Or watch it burn!!!!

ABCD

Digit C is one more than digit A
which is twice digit D, which is ten
less than digit A plus 8.
Digit B is digit A+C+D minus 2.
What is the number?

I'm not sure that the others are "blindly" following rules - its more like they are concerned more food will be taken away from them - that's basically all they get rewarded with ... so they believe punishments will be food related ... and the threat is that there might only be one perpetrator but everyone gets punished ...
they're hungry ... maybe Laurina isn't feeling it as much as some so she isn't that worried about not getting fed
its a sort of institutionalisation I guess - toe the line or be punished ... so you toe the line and anyone not doing that is looked upon as being a threat to the groups wellbeing
If the group were doing the voting to evict Laurina would never have lasted this long

what I didn't like in that whole salt thing was that Laurina out & out lied to them ... then when she saw that Havana was basically giving it away that she had something she had to admit to it ... but lying is never going to go down well
If she'd come out with it and said "I nabbed some seasoning hoping to spice up tonight's meal for us and the stinkers caught me!" and laughed it off maybe the others would have received it a bit better ... however having lied and being very dismissive about it she cooked her own goose

I disagree, they follow blindly, nobody has been penalised for breaking rules, and plenty have broken plenty of rules.
And - so she tried to see if she could get away with it, gee whiz what a crime.
Until she knew if there was other contraband, she was justified in trying to hide it.
She owned up.

I like Laurina more each day, as she refuses to take this silly trip more seriously.

And she reminds me of how sports teams would chuck me out for being silly, and amusing myself when nothing was happening.
Sports people - can be so stupidly strange and conformist, winning isn't everything, enjoying playing is healthy.

Why does tiny boy think he deserves respect, or anything?

I think that is probably the big issue here. Jo Beth, Shane, Brendan all know each other and believe they are true celebrities. Antony Calea too. They look down on Laurina for being a mere Reality tv contestant.
Dean also seems insignificant to them.
They respect Chief and Val and perhaps Bonny too.
Chief seems to be a real nice guy. Dean is kind. Laurina is treated really badly.
I liked Akmal. It's a pity he left.

This. The fact that they all think they are better than her seems to have given them some false credence justifying how they treat her. Which is with utter disdain. I'd love to see Laurina win. It would be TV gold.

Anyway, how is presenting videos of guys getting wacked in the nads any better than being on reality TV?

Different perspective here in Australia, sure organised crime will have their guns, but your typical street thug or suburban burglar will not have a gun. If you're not involved in the drug trade or some other illicit activity the chances of getting involved with organised crime are pretty low. About 3/4 of homicides are committed by someone who knows the victim. "Guns for protection" doesn't have much resonance with your typical Aussie.
sadly not the case here,yesterday a family was held up by five gunmen in their home and another family near them as well.Another family was followed home from the shop and three males stormed their house and held them up and robbed them.A young man was attacked with a panga in cape town and almost lost his hand and those are just the ones we hear about,

Lindsay, how many of these stories, and I know there are hundreds, ended with the person being attacked managing to stop the attack because they had their own gun?
That's the story we never hear.
I have however heard stories of people being attacked being forced to hand over their own gun and then the attack goes on and their weapon falls into the hands of the attackers.

C=A+1
A=2D
D=A+8-10
B = A+C+D-2

D = 2D - 2 => D=2 => A=4 => C=5 => B = 9

4952?

We have had stories where they have been successful,there are just so many it's exhausting

I like Laurina, but I think she would be annoying 24/7. I am finding Val a little irritating, she is so bossy and a little harsh at times. Cannot wait for the challenge on Sunday
