Episode I'm A Celebrity! AU (2016) - Episode Discussion

So who do we think is likely to be next out? Dean is a background figure, but could still have fangirls. Havana and Anthony have slipped behind in the amount of coverage they're getting, as has Paul. I would still guess Dean as most likely, but it wouldn't surprise me if it was Havana or Paul.
Winterbourne
Unfallen Icarus
So, Jo Beth and Val are starting to look bad, like the top dogs picking on the weak; and while,.. dark hair woman with a name starting with L is having a growth narrative. She disrupted that bottle challenge and was justly chastened by captain Warnie. And she listened. She did better in the wagon, and absolutely nailed it in the coffin. She was buried, and like a classic Joseph Campbell hero, was reborn, cleansed and new, bringing what she learnt in the underworld to make her camp life better.
But Jo Beth is picking on her, without perhaps realising that if L is on a hero quest, she is the hero, and that makes Jo the villain. Perhaps being voted for Tucker tasking will help her realise she is the bad guy.
I don't see how Warnie doesn't win this. Chiefy may get votes from NSW, Boofhead votes from Melbourne, but Warnie has got everyone. L has to be a dark horse, though. If Anthony could use criticism in the way L has, he could have done OK, but instead he gets defensive. Val may go down with Jo's ship. Jo started too popular, and now the only way is down. The others are too boring. Oh, except Akmar, but he would need to be funnier and cleverer.

Team LaPags!
She honestly thinks it's because people want to see more of her. She cannot register the idea that she is or is being portrayed as a villain.Perhaps being voted for Tucker tasking will help her realise she is the bad guy.
I would assume Bonnie is a lock for the next boot.So who do we think is likely to be next out?
So who actually believes Warnies claim that his face only changed because he lost weight? His time in the spotlight have made him a very convincing liar, I'll give him that. To me he is showing so many of the signs of Narcissistic Personality Disorder - the constant bragging, the grandiose ideals, the stories seemingly intended to make others feel inferior etc etc.

Disagree with most of this. JoBeth wasn't 'picking' on Laurina, Laurina isn't a victim. She was having a go at JoBeth as well. Provoking her. The public for the most part are dummies who side with whoever they believe is the underdog at that particular moment and then turn on them so quickly. JoBeth is a human who reacted to a situation, just like Laurina is. Why does there need to be some good guy or bad guy or villain or victim in the narrative.

This isn't good versus bad, it's passive aggressive Jo Beth versus Laurina's directness. They are quite different and it's trite to lump them together or to dismiss supporters of one as dummies through one ingenious level of indirection. Laurina, however dislikable, actually deals with the issue at hand. Jo Beth and passive aggressives bring in broad condescending character and value sledges that fester. It's the reason many recruitment processes reject the passive aggressive type first.Disagree with most of this. JoBeth wasn't 'picking' on Laurina, Laurina isn't a victim. or perhaps just a massive stirrer of the potNup.....sorry...Akmal is a dibber dobber.![]()
I disagree - she said it could be either way but she is CHOOSING to go with the positive rather than the negative - that's how she rolls ... outwardly ... inwardly she's probably concerned but she's a tough nut and not going to show thatShe honestly thinks it's because people want to see more of her. She cannot register the idea that she is or is being portrayed as a villain.
isn't Laurina being passive-agressive by doing her bitching about the "happy vibe in the kitchen" not directly to JoBeth but ensuring she is within hearing ... usually when she's just walked away from the group but not quite left the campsite area ... so Laurina is aware she could well be hearing what she has to say but doesn't want to confront her directlyThis isn't good versus bad, it's passive aggressive Jo Beth versus Laurina's directness. in the meantime Chris and Julia seemed to be trying to get across a message of them having resolved their differences and being good friends now ... hmmm ... I'm thinking they're trying to persuade people that that is happening so they don't get too negative and JoBeth leaves too early and any hope of further drama is lost
if people just keep voting for JoBeth to do challenges it will get boring
am a bit over the constant preening in the mirror by DooDooDeeSnoooorrrreeesVille and Laurina - neither one needs to constantly check their appearance - they are both pretty women ... yet all we see each episode is them passing the mirror back and forth!!

I think Laurina was the one being passive aggressive when she directed her comments to other people when she knew JoBeth was there. I don't think that's being direct. I do know she whines a lot. It wasn't only JoBeth that Laurina was rubbing wrong way. I don't think supporters of Laurina are dummies, I think the public in general who see things in black and white terms of underdog and top dog are. No matter who they support. Build them up and tear them down.
I do agree that JoBeth probably wasn't very patient with her but at the same time some people's mannerisms grate on you. That's where she could be more tolerant. I think that Laurina has settled into camp there and is participating with the group and I imagine they're all getting used to each other by now. I don't think it's fair though to judge someone's whole persona based on a personality clash with one person. It's not an all or nothing thing in my opinion.

I got the feeling Laurina knew Jo Beth was loitering in deliberate earshot of overhearing. I can see that the stunt/performance aspect was PA, but it was a deliberate attempt to bring things to a head. She knew Jo Beth would respond to even a hint of reputation damage or loss of social standing. I think it was quite clever targeted bitchiness by Laurina, but I think Laurina owns her inner bitch and Jo Beth is in denial of hers.isn't Laurina being passive-agressive by doing her bitching about the "happy vibe in the kitchen" not directly to JoBeth but ensuring she is within hearing ... usually when she's just walked away from the group but not quite left the campsite area ... so Laurina is aware she could well be hearing what she has to say but doesn't want to confront her directly

I think you could still see last night that the majority of the group still find Laurina annoying to live with by some of the voting last night in Poll Position taskI think Laurina was the one being passive aggressive when she directed her comments to other people when she knew JoBeth was there. yes but if that was Laurina's motive it didn't work - because although Jo Beth heard it she didn't come back and confront her - she just found someone she knew felt the same way and ventedI got the feeling Laurina knew Jo Beth was loitering in deliberate earshot of overhearing. deliberate conflict avoidance tactic
so Laurina is looking for the fight ... JoBeth is seeing that and avoiding it because she's already said her piece and met with a brick wall or otherwise finds that Laurina just argues back and doesn't listen to other people whilst talking over the top of them ... drown them out by being louder or not drawing breath ... not a popular tactic with older celebs who find it rude and disrespectful
age is a factor in all of this too .. older people were taught to be respectful and to be considerate of time/place in their actions and speech and younger people have come through our new enlightened education system and have been taught they have the right to be heard no matter what the circumstances, and can behave however they like without fear of any circumstances

So I'm confused about something. If Laurina has had her eyebrows tattooed on, then what is she plucking?

She would be plucking around the tattooed eyebrow and in between. If she is anything like me (ie dark hair and a lot of it) then it needs to be done everyday or you end up looking overgrown pretty dam quickly.

The tattooed eyebrows just look awful...sorry but they do. She looks a bit tarty...there, I have said it.
