EKKA fever will have a little extra heat this year, as Bulimba local Dion Kallis graces the runway as part of the annual Ekka Fashion Parades.
But the local model has another card up his very fashionable sleeve as he launches his creative sporting accessories business, Rad Pads, in the US and UK this month.

“I’ve been developing the brand since late last year but now its being sold in Australia and is about to go overseas in the US and UK,” Mr Kallis said. “The funky designs and cool colours are a real hit with girls in roller derby and are great for skaters wanting to stand out from the crowd.”

Inspired by his own love of skateboarding and experience working in fashion, Mr Kallis was working on a range of accessories while he prepares for the annual Ekka fashion parades.

“I’ve been involved in the parades every year for three years, it certainly keeps me busy,” he said.

“Men’s modelling has really slowed down recently so it’s great to get the chance to be a part of a huge show with heaps of brands.”

“The Ekka is great because you’re among great crowds who love it, every year we get to muck up and have heaps of fun.”

The iconic CommBank Natural Fibres Fashion Parades will have a new home in the renovated Royal International Convention Centre. Parades will run more than 30 times across the 10-day Ekka, with showings from iconic local designers Easton Pearson, Gail Sorronda, Alexis Dawn, Surafina, Tengdahl, Sacha Drake and Wil Valor.

Mr Kallis said the event also marked the anniversary of his first date with his girlfriend.

I think he looks hotter with the beard. But I am a fan of manly men, ala Shannon Vos. :roflmao:
