I not against hms being 'themselves' but I'm bothered in having to watch someone who clearly has their own serious personal issues to sort out doing it on a national tv reality show. That is not the time nor the place people, sheesh. Sure I like having a laugh at people who make fool of themselves on reality shows but her presence ceased being funny by Week 4, I had had enough by that stage.

I would not call her repeated rebuffed attempts at wooing Ed 'entertaining' reality tv rather painful cringe worthy viewing. I felt incredibly uncomfortable (not to mention tedious) and annoyed that this was was shoved in my face at the expense of footage from other hms.

Anyway she was a 1 dimensional hm who had nothing else to offer besides her embarrassing bunny boiler schtick. If you find that interesting that I suggest you buy all the seasons of The Bachelor and knock yourselves out through that outlet, assuming you haven't done so already. :tongue:

Her so-called fans did Jade a huge disservice by keeping her there, it is quite possible she would never live down the humiliation she subjected herself to on BB.

Luckily for both the producers and those of us who enjoyed watching a little romantic titillation Jade was entertaining enough to last all the way to the end. Remember, it was vote to save and if you didn't vote enough to save someone else, then the ones who everyone else likes get to stay!! Maybe this season, they will bring back the vote to evict and the vote to save and we can have a real battle royal in the voting booth. At least the housemates get 5 votes to nominate who they want to leave the house. So everyone gets a say in the outcome.

I just wish I could vote but since I live in the US, I don't.

I have to wait and vent here on BBAU!!!.
 
Vote to save over vote to evict was the single greatest thing that's ever happened to BB.

Whether you like people like Tim or Jade or not I don't think anyone could truthfully deny they contributed 100x more to the show than people like Matt or Caleb who would have been the top 2 in the old format.

Tim I agree with. I am not sure that Jade contributed 100x more to the show then Matt and Caleb though. Housemates such as Tahan, Tully, and Mikkayla did but not Jade.

it's amazing how people's dislike of HMs can blur reality for them. just because YOU found a HM boring doesn't mean they contributed nothing. they contributed something that you happened not to enjoy - that's the difference! look, i have my fair share (believe me) of housemates i absolutely detest, tim being one of them, but i won't deny tim's contribution to the show even though i hated his contribution.

AGAIN, THE POINT IS NOT WHETHER OR NOT JADE WAS A "GOOD" HM, but did she contribute. obviously she did, because she was the runner-up, suckas.

and if you think she got there with sympathy votes, then what do you need to get sympathy votes: a storyline.

yes, jade had a showmance (a genuine one mind you, unlike e.g. michael towards estelle, layla towards george etc), she had self-esteem issues, THAT IS SOMETHING! i honestly can't even believe you're trying to argue she did not bring more to the show than matt and caleb, like how does that logic even work. i'd rather watch a HM have it tough in the house and with tons of issues than watch pretty boys being vacuous.

The Lady doth protest tooo much if you don't mind me saying.

Jade had the sympathy vote because BB is mostly popular with women and most of these women empathized with Jade because they've also gone through something similar at some point in their lives.

They have pined for a guy that's out of their league or a bad boy or some variation of that and had their hearts smashed into a million pieces.

It also didn't help that large chunk of voters are casual viewers who are not interested in building the right dynamic and chemistry of the house (like regulars like myself are) and just voted based on the few scenes they sat down to watch which unfortunately probably included Jaded moping about over Ed. :mad:

Bottom line Jade's popularity had little to do with her 'storyarc' and more akin to Estelle who was genuinely bullied thus voters rallied behind her to stick it up the psychopath bullies. Only that in Jade's case she was a self-inflicted victim who deserved derision for her immaturity and self absorbtion, NOT PITY!

Lol! I actually liked Jade so no need to add assumptions to suit your argument. I never said she didn't add more to the show then Matt and Caleb. My only argument was that she didn't add the same level as someone like Tim. As for your line "just because YOU found a HM boring doesn't mean they contributed nothing." Doesn't that apply to you and your opinion of Matt and Caleb? At the end of the day people have differing opinions on certain housemates. No need to get so worked up…

P.S. I am someone who thought Matt and Caleb were incredibly boring and shitty selections as housemates.

As this is the HM hunt thread I'll try to bring this back to topic.....

Hopefully Alex decided that yes Matt and Caleb were duds last year and whoever were their counterparts in the 2012 season we also duds and hopefully this year instead of 3 meat heads we will only be getting 1.....

There were SOOOO many HM's from Melbourne last year, and a couple had connections to Estelle from '12 (family friend of Drew's and works/worked with Tahan), so I hope there is a bit more variety where HM's come from this year so it doesn't seem so incestuous

just because they were photographed together on audition day doesn't mean they know eachother. I was made to get a photo with the girl who registered before me and we looked like besties in the photo but i wouldn't know her if i saw her again :) stress less
