I hope this isn't directed to me, because of my dog pic. The tutu was only on for less than a minute for the photo, and she goes for a run every dayI saw an ad for a story about grossly overweight dogs. Something about 'owner attachment' and inability to see the dog as anything other than normal weight, or similar. The owners treat and feel for the dogs as if human, catering to their every imagined need, except enough exercise. I don't see it as kindness. More like emotional blindness, and lack of discipline. In fact in some cases, it could be considered a form of cruelty I suppose.
I think it's awesome that you rescued. We did the same. My son wanted a boy dog, but he fell in love with Rosie, the minute he saw her. They were going to put her down because they didn't want her anymoreSame.
Before we actually adopted our first boy Bill, mentally all I knew is what I didn't want. I didn't want a male and I didn't want a white lap dog. On the day I called the animal rescue voicing my interest in adopting, and she begged me to foster a dog until they had a dog for me, due to having rescued too many dogs from death row. We agreed, and took a white male to foster until our perfect dog could be found... The rest they say is history. I am sure I am not the first person to be caught out accidently falling in love with the wrong dog type.
When adopting Frank, I was really hoping for a girl, but not to be. I feel so lucky to have found a rescue Maltese puppy. They are almost impossible to find.
Not at all. I didn't see any pics of grossly overweight dogs on here, and certainly wasn't suggesting there were, nor aiming it at anyone. It was a social comment off the back of the notion of talking to animals and seeing the ad on TV last night which showed extremes. Like you, I love dogs, especially bigger breeds!I hope this isn't directed to me, because of my dog pic. OMG. Was I wrong?!
Ha, understood. I don't treat Rosie as a human, but I do consider her family. Just adore her. Never was a great dog lover until she came Into our life then it all changed. She was grossly underweight when we got her, neglected by previous owner. Anyway, she's good now. Sry I was defensive. Not at all. Sorry, I can understand it, but it wasn't personally directed to you. These dogs looked like they were straining to waddle. It was extreme.Ha, understood. Oh that's sad.My brother and his wife had to put their german shepard down the other day. It kept getting sick and losing weight. Apparently it looked very malnourished and people would come up to them on the streets and abuse them for not feeding it properly. But they spent like 15 000 dollars on like vet visits and a new diet. But it obviously did not work. Sad thing was that she wasn't that old. Only like a couple or so years I think.
