have to say when I go home to visit Mum across the ditch snuggling into the bed with electric blanket on is soooooooooo lovely!! (mind you forgetting to turn it down before you go to sleep and waking up in middle of the night in a sweat is NOT such a great idea lol)

its FREEZING here in Sydney tonight ... my hands are like icicles!!!

what about an old fashioned hottie then ... hot water bottle I mean - although can thoroughly recommend the other type of hottie warming your bed as well ;)

Haha. Yeah I dunno hey. I think it's like that feeling when you sit on a seat on public transport or something and it's warm and that's kinda weird. That's how I feel if my sheets are already warm.

So no electric blanket for me. A good quality feather / down blanket helps generate enough warmth for me through the night.

Well when you put it like that... Yeah I'm not a fan of a warm toilet seat. My thoughts about germs wont subdue. on the matter.
A feather quilt is amazing! Light as anything, but it gives the perfect warmth. I highly recommend one. They are not cheap though. One day I will own one, one day

Yeah me too, I have got a mixed feather and down one that does the job well enough until I can afford a 'pure' feather one.

Yes warm toilet seat. That's the analogy I was looking for!

ROTL I missed you. I just cracked up with the warm toilet seat ... try explaining that to my son!

We have a wool doona - lovely in the middle of winter - I should have got it out tonight!!!

You need to get one with a timer lol, though it doesn't guarantee a very warm morning lol. I hate the 5-6 o clock when you move even the slightest in bed and bam! you lose the warmth.

I'm sneaky - I leave it on 1 all night ... the problem arises when the bed cools down when I'm reading before going to sleep and I ramp it back up to 3 ... then nod off and forget to turn it down again!

:) It's lovely to see you about, missed you too!

Your son sounds like my hubby and my brother. They wont use the toilet until someone sits on it first in the morning- EWWWWWW!!!!

I think I'm with Connoisseur on this, I'd be worried about a malfunction during the night.

Oh no! Yeah that's going to make sweaty sleep... have you ever suffered a stiff neck afterwards, because you went from a very warm bed to a rush of cold air when you get up? That's what happens to me if I do that with my electric blanket

Isn't that still quite expensive?

See I will need to buy the king size, and the extra long king size one. So it will probably always be out of my price range I suppose

Hmm maybe. I actually don't know. I always presumed that feather only ones were the super expensive ones and then the higher the percentage of down, the cheaper it is. Mine is a 50/50 though it's only king single size... And my grandmother bought it for me years ago, I actually have no idea how much it's worth.
