They're all right I guess. There isn't much room for idealism in non-political shows/films I would've thought.

too true. but imagine writing a tv show with an inspiring bent would be hard because you would get in danger of it becoming too syrupy. it could work for movies though. i'm only really idealistic about things that i care about.

Well it's winter now... Can't say I like being rugged up for so long I avoided doing anything requiring me to leave the house. I have a feeling I'm going to be over winter before it even really begins
It's positively freezing down in Melbourne, appproximately 3 or 4 degrees out in the suburbs.. I literally had to use 3 doonas to generate enough body heat to get some sleep last night and it appears the temperature is plummeting again tonight. *smh*

Thank goodness I don't live in Melbourne! You may want to invest in an electric blanket. I swore I would never use one, but last year I caved and it was the most wonderful feeling of sleep you can have in the colder months

What I meant by that is that HoC portrays politics and politicians in a very ruthless unflattering light unlike the West Wing which was full of syrupy idealism. The latter kinda bored me because it came across as what the writers hoped politics should be whereas with HoC it depicts politics as it really is albeit with a bit of over the top shenanigans. :D
Ooooh I'm interested. I love politicians getting what they deserve.

You'll love it then. There's non-stop backstabbing in HoC, mostly by the lead character mind you but his come uppance is bound to come soon enough.

I would but I have this fear that an electric blanket could malfunction and catch fire whilst I'm sleeping. :nailbiting:

House of Cards is fab.u.l.ous. Kevin Spacey is on my future husband list.

It is sooooo cold in Melbourne right now and, of course, our central heating has broken down. Must. Not. Freeze. To. Death.

Just use it to warm up the bed before you get in. :)
I love getting into a cold bed. Hate the feeling of jumping into sheets that are already warmed up.

That was always my concern too, but there are ones you can buy that turn off at a certain time. It's great to just warm the bed before getting under the doona too. Make sure you look into one that has a good reputation for these sort of things. In saying that, I still would never get my kids one though.[DOUBLEPOST=1433163441][/DOUBLEPOST]

Now you are just plain weird! I dread it lol

Oh dear! I guess you can sleep with a robe on... I do that sometimes.

Haha. Yeah I dunno hey. I think it's like that feeling when you sit on a seat on public transport or something and it's warm and that's kinda weird. That's how I feel if my sheets are already warm.

So no electric blanket for me. A good quality feather / down blanket helps generate enough warmth for me through the night.
