Well I had an exceedingly annoying event or series of events happen this week. I applied for a job. Had the first interview (which I thought was the only interview) at which time my salary expectations were communicated. Then the employer proceeded to check references without checking with me first. THEN they schedule me for a second interview. THEN they make me a job offer that was 20% lower than what I was earning at my old job. What the hell? I was willing to take a small pay cut, but I'm not going to enslave myself for peanuts. Suffice it to say, I turned it down. Complete and utter waste of time. I wish that @$$hole had not called my references without first checking with me.

Moral of the story: "References upon request" only.
How did they have your list of references if you didn't give it to them first?

Oh and well done on not down dollaring. Super cheeky to of them to reveal the salary and then slash it upon offering the position!

Good afternoon OT Thread!

I hope this post finds those I love happy, loving life and farting sprinkles and those I loath to be their usual miserable and bitter selves!!

All is well in the land of home ownership! Our pool is once again blue and my partner is nearly finished setting up his man cave.

Sounds awesome.

They were required at the time of application. Never in my life had anyone checked on references before the second interview. Imagine checking references for your top candidates? Very inefficient.

Happy Mother's Day to all the mums out there! I hope you've all been spoiled rotten!

Today my mum and I went to the Mother's Day event at Belgamy farm.... Then we went shoe shopping.

To add to what @Inigo Montoya said, I want to wish all the amazing mums who visit this thread a very happy Mother's Day. For some today is a great celebration, for others it can be difficult.
Whatever it was for you, I pray you were able to find some happiness today!

Mums are awesome . . .

Yep, happy Mother's Day to everyone out there who celebrates this day, and love and thoughts with those who don't/can't.

My mum and sis went in the Mother's Day classic this morning but sadly I couldn't be coerced to join them, I still got to celebrate later though.

What's a Mother's Day classic?

I had a quick lunch with my mum before she went off for a week to volunteer at a disability camp.

Oh sorry, that wasn't so clear was it? It's a fun run type of thing (either 4km or 8km) raising money for a breast cancer charity, possibly I think it might be held nation wide?

So not how I'd spend my day if I was a mother!

That sounds like a nice day for you - and good on your mum for doing volunteer work too.
