How did they have your list of references if you didn't give it to them first?Well I had an exceedingly annoying event or series of events happen this week. I applied for a job. Had the first interview (which I thought was the only interview) at which time my salary expectations were communicated. Then the employer proceeded to check references without checking with me first. THEN they schedule me for a second interview. THEN they make me a job offer that was 20% lower than what I was earning at my old job. What the hell? I was willing to take a small pay cut, but I'm not going to enslave myself for peanuts. Suffice it to say, I turned it down. Complete and utter waste of time. I wish that @$$hole had not called my references without first checking with me.
Moral of the story: "References upon request" only.
Oh and well done on not down dollaring. Super cheeky to of them to reveal the salary and then slash it upon offering the position!
