I was just stating a point to open a discussion.

Yep, they could have been washed in sewerage, which is like washing in poo water. I never said anything about children shitting in berry bushes, nor did I ever imagine children doing that ........... Was really weird to imagine that.

I am NOT hysterical.

I don't need to look closer to home to see people living their lives in an unhealthy ways. Why tell me, to look a bit closer to home?
People bought that product to become healthy.
With the Measles and Whooping Cough mention....... More Education all round needed, maybe????

I don't understand why there is not a warning on products, to wash them in clean water prior to consumption. Same goes for that bagged lettuce, that states "washed and ready for use" - I always wash and rinse.

Anyway, that is my point on your point .........

I did read that in China and elsewhere fruits and vegetables are sometimes fertilised with human poo. It's called 'nightsoil'. I think I'm going to start my own vege garden.

hahahahahahhhhaaa - Not Grey Water, some people are opposed to that! I used to use my 'Grey Water' on my ornamental plants, and it was good. The Brown Variety??? I think those self composting dunnies might be a treat (if needed)

Yeah, I knew about the Nightsoil ..... hence my blabber ......

Sure, we use Dynamic Lifter, Animal Dung etc to make our Crops luscious .......... but once again, EDUCATION ...... I think lala was touching the subject on health matters starting in our own backyard.

Thanks for that link and the info about HepA not being in the blood - it was just all over the News here, when I got a glimpse and was a bit concerned.

I hate the way the media take a snippet of information to cause hysteria.

They manipulate people with a headline, and from their the public seem to eat up the outrage with a spoon.

I understand why consumers are angry, and they should be. Manufactures pay more for pretty packaging and shopping isle space than they do ensuring products are safe.

How much do you think these big manufacture were paying Chinese farmers for their berries?

You pay peanuts you get shit covered berries.

I would like to see us as consumers take some responsibility. Pay more, support local produce and support local industry. We have seen when we know better we do better. Just take our egg market, the far more expensive Free Range egg industry is booming. We do that because we know caged eggs while cheaper, are the non ethical choice.

I would love to know what these poor Chinese farmers were being paid per kilo for their produce.
