I'm studying Professional Writing and Editing. I'm not sure if that satisfies @reepbot's standards of liveliness.

What does professional writing mean? How does it differ from just writing? Is learning about editing hard? I'm not very lively, but I admire people who call themselves lively.

Well professional writing is basically just writing as a profession, which I suppose differs from just writing by way of payment! The course provides "industry knowledge" and whatnot. The class I had today was Nonfiction Elements which covers a broad spectrum of stuff—from writing speeches to writing instruction manuals, and anything else to do with nonfiction. I'll let you know how hard editing is once I've done a bit of it. ;)

Writing speeches sounds like fun. Have you started to write non fiction stuff yet? Or won't that happen until later?
