Hahahaha she's hilarious
I'm going to use this thread as my LIVE JOURNAL; look out for pictures of me with unicorns with INSPIRING QUOTES as well as a public meltdown.
People still use Live Journal? I thought it was just for fanfiction like Wincest. Tumblr is where it's at these days.

Warning: Boring Nursing Talk
I have worked in the same ward for the last few months, so I am semi-familiar with the patients and their care and med regime, and when doing my wounds yesterday I noticed my daily dressing of an ulcerated wound on a severely oedematous lower leg was showing classic signs of infection, it was inflamed, red, warm to touch and appeared to be tracking, so I faxed the doctor to have him assess it, and when I was handing over, the afternoon nurse said "didn't night staff hand that over? Short term AB's were commenced last night at 20:00". So I had to fax the Dr with, "sorry my error, AM dose was delayed... " and explain it to my CNC, who was really great about it. I didn't make excuses and I took full responsibility.
However between us, it was a comedy of errors given the info wasn't handed over, AB alert on the chart had been overlooked and the AB's were not with his meds as a prompt, a patient that went into AF, and we were an AIN down making it a super busy work environment, but ultimately the responsibility is mine.
I am just relieved he got the dose and no real harm was done. It has been a real learning experience for me, as is every day I spend working as a nurse.
I still feel like an imposter!
Thank God it's Friday!
I have a super busy day ahead, first work, then wizz home to get ready for an overnight BrizVegas trip! Dinner, dancing and a quick fuck in an alley is just what the doctor ordered!
Hope you all have a great night and see you Saturday!
Xo

Argh thats one thing I dont miss about the job, relying on others to communicate and do their jobs properly so you can do yours, but good on you for taking it as a lesson to learn, can be easy to not read all the notes from the previous shift when busy, or when expect others to hand that over, but something we all should do

Timed by morning much better today, I ran before I ate instead of eating than have to wait for run, there is a man I have seen every morning running, very big guy, jogging every morning but slower than a walk, all I wanted to do was go up and slap him on the back for doing such a great job, I dont even know the guy, but when I see him I feel proud of him, he is out there doing it, he got off the couch and started and will start seeing results, some sit and complain but he gets up and does something! He has motivated me every time I have seen him
Tomorrow I may take pompoms!!

Yum..
