Oh before I go, I have to say a big Happy (and even more belated) Birthday to [MENTION=1022]tess[/MENTION]! Sorry didn't say so earlier. Hope you had a magnificent day, young lady! :cool:

Just to update I have the SDRO a call and now have a caution as opposed to fine and demerit point. The lady was lovely too :)

Battenning down the hatches here....schoolies is upon us grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. Trying to think of a way to rig my letterbox so it explodes when the little pukes sabatage it for the 5th year in a row....damn you alcopops....damn you irresponsible parents.

Wow, 12kg! Hope she continues to be positive and realise what a lucky escape she has had. She is def the winner, good on her.

Thought you must have been, you poor thing, cos like no one would be able to be absent from all the fabooshness in here for that long without a real good excuse:p

Sorry for butting in ... but I used to have two geese raised from goslings (had to have at least 2 as they get lonely) - turned out to be a male and a female ... and they were the best watch/guard animals I've ever had!

The bloody male managed to break skin through my jeans one day when he thought I was going to hurt the female. Stupid bird.

I retired them to a friend's property and theyve had several clutches of goslings since.

Just beware - their living area gets quite stinky.

Thks tori, I remembered after pene mentioned the geese that my grandad had some when I was little and they would protect me and my brother if we were out in the paddock. They would attack a dog or even a curious sheep who came close to us, but they hated our bigger cousins and would peck them (come to think of it, we hated them too:p). Maybe if I just get one and see how it goes. I already have ducks and their hygiene leaves a bit to be desired!

I've had ducks too :) Muscovies.. my drake was almost as bad as my boy goose!

They went to the same farm .. lol

I had the best male muscovy but the fox got him, he was obviously too slow and could not fly. I miss him:( He used to protect the girls but I think he just got too old. Haven't got another male, don't think I'd ever replace him so am thinking the goose would be a good idea. The alpacas don't seem to mind what birds I have, they give a sniff and just adopt anything with feathers!
