I think I know what she is saying - the only people in a 'nail salon' these days are ....... I walk past and they have thier masks on
Say it isn't so!!

For the record, 1. Asian people are not the only people who work nail salons, and 2. Chonga?! 1970 called and it wants its racial slur back. And keep up, Middle Eastern is now the hate race of choice.

I don't understand toenail polish lol. It freaks me out.
And pedicures. Touching someone else's feet? :yuck:
I love painted toenails in Summer.

You don't have to touch theirs, they touch yours. Try it. You might love it :)

I know I shouldn't have but I did have a little laugh over the word as I haven't heard it for ages. Yes, you're correct as to what was said.

I like the end result of pedicures but sometimes I fee like a need a valium just to get through it. Yes, a very first world problem I know, but what's new...

Many nursing homes pay for you to upskill to en/rn. 2016 is going to be an exiting time for you!!
I wish you would upskill to 'literate' :p.

What is a chonga?

Yes, sorry :( it is true. We are terribly lax around here & have even worse nick names for people & places. I write as I speak and I have no idea of the origin, but that's what everyone around here refers to when talking about one nail salon. Doesn't make it right :(

I picked you as the type weeks ago, so your behaviour is expected.

as soon as anyone mentions feet ... pedicures ... podiatrist etc etc I notice my feet are instinctively tucked under my chair and toes are clenched

cannot stand anyone touching my feet :yuck::yuck::yuck:

actually kicked a perfect stranger in the face during ante-natal lessons ... poor unsuspecting guy was asked to hold one foot whilst husband held the other during some useless exercise ... husband knew already not to grab foot ... the other guy was a player for the Sydney Kings but we didn't know that until his photo was in the paper a few weeks later and I realised "ruh roh!" ... I'd kicked someone newspaper-worthy in the moosh

Love a pedicure, hate manicures. Bad experience with one.
have had 2 manicures ... one on an impulse on my wedding day ... in a small beauty salon - a very nice relaxing experience - unrushed, chatting with the beautician, massage for hands ... this was years before these nail places started up

and another a couple of years ago just because I thought "why not" (should actually be "why not waste my money on an impulse that doesn't include calories?!)

why not?
how about the young lady couldn't communicate clearly to me what she needed to know or what she wanted me to do - I'm usually very good with accents and patient with people who are ESL ... part & parcel of my job - 95% of our workforce are ESL ... but this was ridiculously difficult
how about all she was interested in was getting the money paid before polish went on
how about wasn't 100% sure those implements hadn't been previously used on someone else and cleaned properly
how about after pushing me to a wall of what seemed like 1000's of colours I grabbed what seemed like a good idea at the time
how about after putting on polish she then pushed me to where there was a light thing to shove my hands under and pointed to magazines ... I had no idea how long I should sit there ... picked up a magazine ... smudged the polish ... got bored and pissed off because I was now being ignored as she already had my money ... did I have to sit there forever? how do I tell without touching it if the polish is good to go?
since it was already smudged and I was hating the whole experience I hightailed it out of there and to the nearest chemist shop for nail polish remover
NEVER EVER AGAIN!!!

Oh yeah I hear you there. I hate getting my feet touched, it feels like mild torture to me. I am willing to put up with a lot in the name of vanity and beauty so I guess it's part of it for me, but it's so not a relaxing experience and they usually laugh at me. Probably for willingly being there and even paying money for something I am hating.

I've been once too to get nails done before the wedding. It hurt like hell and I haven't been back since. I just keep mine relatively short with some clear polish and don't worry further. As for feet - hell no.
I have to admit though, there was a nail technician at my hairdressers for a while and while you were waiting after your hair got colour in it she would massage your hands. THAT was heaven I must say.

Oh you make it sound so easy. I really should try this. I am going to the hairdresser soon and the last time I went it cost around $400
Try it, next time you need a little trim have a go, if you're unsure just take off half a CM to a CM.... You can't screw it up by only cutting off that much.... And $400 bloody hell, what did you have done?

While I am glad it turned out, I think I will stick with my hairdresser and not just because I love our boring chit chat either.

No promises, but I am going to try and have your cv and eoi done by Friday. I will messenger you for any extra details I will need. Then you can print it off, and drop it off at nursing homes. Many nursing homes pay for you to upskill to en/rn. 2016 is going to be an exiting time for you!!
Oh wow, you don't have to actually do the CV for me.... But hey if your are offering... :p

I would love for someone other than me to pay for the EN course.... At TAFE its $15000. For now though I will be happy to just get a job as an AIN.
