i want to get some small gifts for my teachers preschool teachers, but not sure what to get. I was thinking a box of chocolates, but hubby thinks how unoriginal and although he is right, there are 6 teachers to buy for. It's just easier to do the box of chocolate gift imo

My miss 9 had a Kris Kringle thing at school with a $2-$3 limit. I ended up finding at Coles these little snow globes that double as a tree ornament & they had an LED in them too. They were reduced to $2.70 & could get a santa, raindeer, penguin & something else I've forgotten. Miss 9 LOVED it, so I got one for her teacher & some for her, her brother & friends. They are so cute :)

The snow globes sounds like a good idea. Christmassy too. Actually I have seen at ronis ones with names on them. I could always get one of these for each teacher, the name has nice touch too I think. Thanks for the idea :)

oh wow! I think teachers are amazing- which is why I want to become one. What do you teach, if you don't mind me asking...

What about a nice smelly candle? Personally I wouldn't go overboard, 6 teachers is a lot to buy for

I agree, if it was one I would be more generous. I figured they always have the small chocolate boxes on sale in whatever supermarket. But I really like the snow globe idea now. I actually have a box of vanilla scented soy candles from my brother in laws wedding. But my brother in law and his wifes names are on them though. If I could use them I would

I have taught primary school for 8 years. 2 years teaching Year 5, 2 years teaching computers to Kindy through to Year 6, then the rest on Year 2.

I remember when my miss 9 was in kindy & her teacher begged for any parent helpers available to come in during computer lab time cos with just the teacher it takes the whole lesson just to get them all logged in! :P I hope you had some helpers :D

If you're interested in getting into the teaching profession you should focus your energy in specialising in the maths/science side of things.

Your run of the mill teacher whose qualifications are restricted to your typical standard English/History/Humanities subjects, are in oversupply and generally find it extremely difficult to break through to land a permanent job based on those credentials alone.

bd would know more about this I presume. Funny all this time I was under the impression that you were an IT peachy. lol

All the best in your new career change SG. ;)

When I complete my degree, and I can teach primary, computer lessons are going to be my dreaded part. Me and the tech side of computers do not get on very well. I will bribe parents to help out if I have to lol

I am studying to become a primary school teacher. in my second year now, plus I received exemptions due to already completing another degree.

I would never get into English/ History/Humanities subjects. They were not my strong subjects. Maths was always my strongest. I actually tutored other students in my first year at uni for statistics ;)

I thought Bleachy was into IT too lol, which is why I was genuinely wowed when he said teaching. I always get a little surprise form the posters on this site- I really like that

I had special software that could log in the whole lab remotely until I could teach them to log in by themselves. Haha.

I have no formal training in IT at all. Just pretty good at googling :)

Or find a school with a dedicated computer teacher. Haha.[DOUBLEPOST=1418961175][/DOUBLEPOST]

I'm actually considering changing careers. 8 years is enough for a Gen Y lol!

I have no formal IT qualifications though, so I dunno.

IT is something you want to get into? Or just want a career change because you are no longer as passionate about teaching?

It's never too late to learn something new and never too late for a career change. I worked for 4 years in my field after completing a business degree, had children, so stayed in similar roles but more admin style work. Decided I was no longer interested in business (or if I ever was), though I will still work in this field until I finish my degree in education. Think of what you enjoy and what interests you. I have always been very good with kids, very patient with little kids, plus I do adore them. I am also better at teaching than doing lol, found this out in my third year of working full time haha. My point is, take time to think about you and what you want.

I still love working with the children.

It's the politics and the extra demands that I'm over. It becomes more and more an admin job as you have to try to cover everything.

I think I'd just like a change. Maybe come back to it later.

I did a mission trip to Tonga and trained teachers, so maybe I'll get into something like that. At the moment I just need a break.

I have considered IT for a while, but not sure with no actual qualifications.

Who knows. Looking forward to where life takes me next tho :)

You are the most positive/ peachiest poster on this site. If this is any indication of what you are in real life, I have no doubt wherever life takes you, will be an enjoyable one :)
