It's an interesting moneymaker for Sportsbet actually. If the world doesn't end by May 2015 all bets are void and money is returned.A sucker is born every minute, this is just another way of parting them from their money.
So pretty much it's an interest free loan for Sportsbet for 6 months, which they of course make money off. Who knows how much money they hold on these ridiculous 'world will end' bets? $100k? More maybe. And really there's no chance they will ever lose.
