I actually think Estelle is going to gain heaps from this experience whilst Ben is going to wish he had never done it and here is why.
Estelle
Complete strangers are going to be telling her how much they admire her personal qualities such as strength, resiliance, courage, integrity, dignity, grace etc and she is going to feel validated and loved as a person for a long time to come.
A few people may call her a slut or accuse her of being fake, a flirt, or a boyfriend thief but those things will not bother her too much because, as an attractive girl, chances are she has come across such accusations in the past and has learned to deal with them.
It is now public knowledge that she refuses, even under intense pressure, to be two-faced or backstab so a lot of people are going to want her friendship and be prepared to accept her quirks to get it.
Even her haters acknowledge she didn't gossip or backstab and they know she comes across as weird so, anyone she has contact with in a professional capacity, will be prepared to accept her much more easily than if she were an unknown. Her behaviour in the house would not have put anyone off hiring her.
She got five grand which is enough to help her out financially but not enough to allow her to get used to having unlimited money.
Time will pass, the public will forget her, but she will be left with the knowledge that she is a good person and that people liked her which will give her more self-confidence and more strength to cope with whatever life holds for her in the years to come.
Ben
Complete strangers will also be telling Ben how much they admire and love him but they will definitely not be complimenting his personal qualities - they will be saying how much he made them laugh, how entertaining he was for them, how they don't care if everyone else thinks he is a horrible human being!
Other complete strangers, on the other hand, are going to be telling him how much they hate him, how vile he is, how they don't understand how Australia could have rewarded such bad and unacceptable behaviour. He will be booed for sure. He will hear the words bully, bitch and backstabber so often he's likely to wind up in the news for attacking someone as soon as the initial high of winning has worn off.
It is now public knowledge that Ben is a liar, a backstabber, a gossip, nasty, untrustworthy and mean. The only people who will want his friendship are people just like him or people who think they can get something from him since he is now "rich".
On a professional level his chances of getting work have gone down the tubes apart from using him for his fame for as long as he remains famous. His behaviour in the house will have put anyone else off hiring him.
He got 250 grand which is a lot of money if you use it to "live life to the fullest" but not much at all if you use it to buy a house etc. It is not enough to even buy a house in the suburb where he lives although it will make a decent deposit. I suspect Ben will not be able to resist living life to the fullest. Hollidays, expensive clothes, nights on the town with other celebrities.
Time will pass, the public will forget him, the money will be gone and he will be back to living life the way he did before he won. All he will have left will be a longing for the fame and rich lifestyle he grew used to. The contrast between the two will make him hate being a nobody even more than he did before he won.
I think Ben is a fame and attention whore. I think he started that Kylie charity not to get funds to help people but to try and manipulate Kylie into meeting up with him. He's a fan and he most likely thought if he could just meet her he could weave his web and make himself a part of her circle.
I don't believe Ben is telling the truth about either his commitment to Ben2 or his desire to start a family. I think the proposal was his "Plan B" for stealing the limelight if someone else took first place from him. I think, when he won, he decided it was actually a good way to enhance the limelight and keep the media interested in him so he went through with it.
He has told the other HM's he wants children, they are talking about that as being what he is going to do with the money, but he is now telling the media a family doesn't automatically mean having children and he originally said he feels he is too selfish to have children (see the first few pages of the Ben appreciation thread).
Ben wants fame, fortune, attention and he has all of that right now but it is not going to last. Other HM's and the people he wants to mix with are going to realise what we have seen all along - he can't be trusted and he doesn't genuinely care about anyone but himself.
Ben is going to be a target for every gay gold-digger who knows he has money and someone is going to be just as good as him at getting what he wants so I don't expect his engagement to last very long either.
When this is all over Ben is going to have even less than he started with and he will still not understand where he went wrong. In twenty years time he will be bitter and angry about how it all turned out and guess what - I bet he will STILL be blaming Estelle!!!
