I never said that. I've been quite clear that there's room for improvement. But I'm also not ignorant as to how 2020's TV works.
Because that's what the wider audience respond to, especially in the day of social media fuelled brain rot.
And that was 2000's television. Jump forward 20 years, a lot has changed.
When TV channels air game shows these days, it’s usually quiz shows. People love The Chase, it’s a success around the world.
Why hasn’t 10 or Endemol responded to this clear trend and change in television and added a round to Deal or no Deal where you only advance in the game if you manage to beat the banker in a multiple choice quiz round?
The answer is obvious: Because Deal or no Deal is not quiz show. Its whole point is that you don’t have to have a huge knowledge to win big. And if you wanted to have a quiz, you’d just commission and produce a quiz.
It’s the same with Big Brother. It is its own show. It works differently from Love Island, The Bachelor, MAFS or many other shows that fall into the reality genre.
I’m also not buying the “Generation TikTok” thing. Yes, lots of crap on social media. But social media also brought us "real life streamers" that provide unedited and unfiltered content. And it brought us podcasts that proof that people are listening to interesting conversations and not just mindless screaming, bitching and jealousy.
Big Brother would have never made it to air if people believed that you can only do shows that build on stuff that’s already there. Nobody would have watched the show if it was true that you can't do things differently from other broadcasters.
