What’s everyone’s thoughts on the finale now??

Seems like Nicola is the main companion for the Christmas special, like Kylie Minogue was for hers years ago!

There were some things I loved, some I thought were okay, and some I didn't like. I loved that Bonnie/Mel was treated like an actual companion, and given something good to work with (unlike when she was with 7).

I love Nicola Coughlan as an actress in Derry Girls, so I can't wait!

I enjoyed the finale more on second viewing when I had no expectations!

I am so sorry to hear about Melos. The pragmatic voice of sense and reason with a wild aptitude for all things Dr Who. I will miss you old friend💗💗💗

Just 1.6m watched last night - 2m last week with only 100k watcting early release. Most premium BBC dramas get at least double that.

I do really think TV viewing figures are a thing of the past now, especially with Doctor Who.

It premiers at 8am on BBC iPlayer (11 hours before airing on TV), and the rest of the world on Disney+, with millions more watching through these means.

Read below:
The second episode of Doctor Who's new season, "Lux," had the lowest overnight viewership ratings in the show's history, falling below 2 million viewers. While this is concerning, it's important to remember that these figures only include live viewers on BBC One. The consolidated ratings, which include viewers on BBC iPlayer and catch-up, will be released later and are expected to show a more complete picture of the episode's performance.

That's the excuse used for poor ratings - we should get a better indication of episode 1 with the 7 day figures today or tomorrow but ultimately a low overnight still usually results in a poor official figure and despite a similar same day early release strategy the soaps still usually get a million more in the overnights than Doctor Who got. TBH Doctor Who's ratings have been really poor since the Capaldi days.

The top UK dramas still usually consolidate to 6m+ and 5m would still be a hit. Anything less than 4m would be a problem really.
