Just finished 'Smile' and read your comments on here.
What a great episode that was. Bill is fantastic. I was a bit surprised that they left Nardole behind, I wonder how many episodes that will happen in. Loved his comment about "not making a cup of tea for her", a bit of jealousy there.[DOUBLEPOST=1492961856][/DOUBLEPOST]Watching Whovians now

Whovians is a fun show. The preview for the next episode is worth it alone, but there's also a reasonably detailed level of discussion, though with a bias towards the new episodes.
I didn't mind the audition piece as I quite like Charlie Pickering and Kitty Flanagan.
It's a shame they seem to have run out of Australian actors who were in the classic series, after just two.
I watched the clip from Smile six times, and I still can't make out what the Doctor said. It was the clip about the jelly, and "Bajo" said it was the funniest thing Capaldi has ever said, can someone explain it to me? Something about algae?
"Bajo" is still the weak link in the show. It annoyed me that he thought he was being funny about the TARDIS needing seatbelts, but it's been done, something none of them picked up on.

...Bill said that the jelly that she was eating tasted like algae and The Doctor said "I met an Emperor once... he was made out of algae... **long pause**... he fancied me!"... so being as gay as he is 'Bajo' probably got a big kick out of there being a gay reference about The Doctor I guess?... I dunno... maybe I'm wrong?... oh well... at least it made 'bajo's' day if nothing else I guess?... cheers.

Thanks for explaining that Mr Sticky. I love Capaldi but I find his accent a bit hard to decipher sometimes, especially when he's mumbling (Tennant does it too in Broadchurch).
Yeah, not the funniest thing I've ever heard, just a throwaway line. I think "Bajo" is the sort of viewer who looks for the funny bits but doesn't take notice of the rest, just so he can attempt (and fail) to be funny on the show. Rove and Adam, on the other hand, make the jokes as well as knowing about Doctor Who.

And Bill - aww, i do hope she is around for more than one series, she is awesome, the closest thing to Donna we have had, free spirited and fun, I love her - and I love her stripey top.

I chuckled with the fancied line because it was so unexpected. I didn't know if he was talking about being eaten or something sexual. Humor is subjective I guess.
I just love the banter. It feels a lot more lighthearted. I just want a deeper plot to get into for the next episode.

...when Rove told us that the building in 'Smile' was real and that it was a Science and Arts building in Valencia in Spain I looked it up on Google... here it is...

...but what I liked the best is how they took the building out of the centre of the city and put it next to that giant wheat field and blocked all of the surrounding blocks of buildings out by using special effects... man that would've cost them heaps with their budget... plus the expense of building the smiley robots it must have cost them heaps to produce this episode methinks!... here is the building in the middle of the city of Valencia...
...and here is how we ended up seeing it...
...no buildings... no city... nothing around it at all... how good is that?... the magic of television and movies eh?... it really did seem to be placed on another planet didn't it?... all credit to the production team on such a great set... I tip my hat to you all... cheers.

...okay... I know that I've been praising the Doctor Who crew for such great special effects and production values and attention to details BUT!... this is a scene from next weeks episode that shows The Doctor and Bill under the frozen River Thames in London...
...I lived in London as a kid and I'm telling you all now... it's as thick as mud in colour... there's no way on Earth that they would be able to see each other let alone anything else under there lol!... but for the sake of the entertainment value of the show I'll turn a blind eye to it on this one occasion lol!... just saying... cheers.

...just to correct myself from a post that I made during my babblings while the show was on... after watching the episode for the 4th time just now I've now realised what The Doctor actually said when Bill asked him as to why he had a 'Scottish accent' he actually replied "I'm not Scottish... I'm angry!" and he then half jokingly says that "people from Scotland are all over the place, demanding independence on every planet they land on"... lol!... funny as!... cheers.
...just out of curiosity... did anyone else notice the name of that spacecraft in the show?...
...the ship's name is 'Erehwon'... which is the word 'nowhere' spelt backwards... is it referring to the fact that the crew had 'nowhere' to go back to because Earth was destroyed or would it be part of a backwards loop story arc for later on perhaps?... we all know just how much Moffatt and crew love story arcs don't we?... lol!... the mind boggles... cheers.

...just a little silly side note and probably just me nitpicking... BUT!... I'm surprised that The Doctor is allowing Bill to take selfies... and now that I think of it... any photo's whatsoever while on her travels... especially to the future... what if she takes an image of the inside of The Tardis or even of something that could possibly alter the future for the human race and someone steals her phone for instance?... or is The Moff and crew going to write that in for a future episode maybe?... Clara and the other companions before Bill weren't allowed have one to do it so why Bill now?... just saying... cheers.
I'd say the Doctor could probably wipe her phone pretty easily (like his browser history), or maybe the pictures would disappear when she's back in her own time?

GORGEOUS......thanks for all of those postings....Spanish have very cool heritage with architecture, Gaudi stuff I get lost in, and he's dead but they continue building to finish his masterpieces.
The Doctor buildings remind me of our Opera House - that would be a great setting for DW too.
And re the robots - I kind of assumed they borrowed some from Japan...wonder about that, Japan makes stuff like that and even more complex.
